You could try the Zen 'One Hand Clapping' technique, just to hear what it sounds like.:)

I'm also going with the missus and until yesterday was preparing to be mightily annoyed at myself for spending the money. Amazing how a win changes perception.

A win gives you hope....and you polish that bit of hope till it sparkles. The best time is now... between matches. :)

That Fonte penalty was the worst ever decision, so the ref evened it up by not giving the most blatant penalty of the match. <laugh>

As for the second match....my favourite for so many reasons:emoticon-0110-tongu Am still amazed that Fonte and Saints didn't get into trouble for a near riot....inciting us girls like that.

Watching the first clip of the 3-0 makes me remember all the man love for Rickie again. What a player.

I'm all for Boufal starting (and have been for some while), but after listening to the Davis interview on BT and Pellegrino after the WBA game it sounds like he is unlikely to this week. Davis mentioned the fact that he has lots of talent, but needs to learn when to take people on. If we are losing 1-0 with 20 minutes to go throw him on when the opposition is sat deep so he can try and unlock them. If he starts and its 0-0 and he tries to beat a man inside our own half and gets caught out then it is a far bigger problem. I agree with others that he should be given an opportunity but if the manager and captain don't appear to trust his decision making then it doesn't sound positive.

The main issue I took from the interview is how long it is taking Boufal to learn when to keep it simple and when to take players on, he has been here a year now (admittedly injury hit) but this should be taught in training, not in proper games.

Same team as against WBA. We were playing well and created enough chances to be ahead, and it was really bad luck that we needed a wonder goal by Boufal to win that match

Good job no-one did this with a young Matthew Le Tissier - it saying he's that good, but MLT was our creative spark. Alan Ball used to just let him do what he wanted.

Good news: I just managed to swap my row B ticket for a row P one <diva>

Bad news: I'm horrendously ill so might not be going at all at this rate <wah>

I am not old enough to really remember peak Le Tissier, but did he try and skin the opposition players in dangerous areas like I have seen Boufal attempt a few times? I like Boufal and, like yourself, want him to have a run of games starting in the team. But I can understand the managers position if the trust isn't there for him to not try a flip flap in our penalty area.

The best comparison I can come up with for him is he reminds me a fair bit of Mahrez the season before Leicester won the Prem. Obviously talented but hadn't put it together consistently in the Prem and was making the wrong decisions regularly. Hopefully he can grow into the player Mahrez has become.

Yes he did. And usually succeeded.

I'm not saying SB has even half of what MLT had (MLT's range of passing and shooting accuracy from anywhere was as good as anyone I've seen in world football). SB is quicker (as are most sentient beings) and busier (see previous).

I agree the Mahrez comparison is a closer one.

I think that's the problem: I don't think it's the sort of thing that can be taught in training. There's no substitute for the adrenaline rush of a real game and it is the ability to think analytically in the heat of battle that he needs to acquire. The signs are good - the coolness with which he put the ball away after beating half the WBA team suggests he is almost there. From previous games he seems to get lost when he finds himself in tight areas - always trying to beat another man when the percentage thing to do is to pass. We don't want him to always play the percentage ball - that would turn him into another Steven Davis - but he needs to know when to go for the less risky option.
So - in my opinion Boufal needs to start a few games (5, say) and be given the chance to fail. If he's got the intelligence to go with his abundant talent, he'll work it out.

I think Yoshida referred to as a pyramid?
