Last season we were challenging for the title with a real chance of winning it. Ok it lasted only part of the season, and we were not in Europe. The irony is that with more matches to play and in Europe our squad has become apparently weaker. The CL threatens to be only a one season wonder like last time and again we may miss European football next season. I thought we had broken this unwanted cycle with Klopp's appointment. Sorry to say that the season is turning into a disappointment unless we turn things dramatically, starting with the defensive failures. Klopp has with his personality and his infectious positivity have given fans a great deal of hope but these have not been confirmed with results and points after 2 years at the club. Surely a top manager must be able to spot problems in a key area of the team AND sort them out. To pursue VVD almost to the exclusion of every other defender was rather naive. To buy Karius and then demote him and reinstall Mignolet was costly. Last season, we recognised that Mane was key to our team and needed cover. Without him our results deteriorate yet we haven't really found a cover for him. Salah is not really a genuine quality cover as unfortunately he misses 2 chances before he scores one. Just like at Everton, the players are threatening the manager's position. Koeman's job is hanging by a thread. I won't say that Klopp 's is in a similar position but if his players keep making such basic defensive mistakes, sooner or later it will reflect on him.
So then Klopp got top 4 with players he bought last season: Mane, wijnaldum, Matip.... You can't have it both ways
Well, he got to the same 2 finals that you quoted with the same players. Does that help? They're you're words after all
Men against Boys today......Spurs did not have to break into a sweat....should have been 8 -1 it was that easy...
A word to say about Spurs too - they really are head and shoulders above us. Absolutely no chance of beating them (or City) to Top Four, and even Uniturd and Arsenal look to have an edge on us. Throw Chelsea into the mix too, and, well....
I'm confused. You credit mourinho's success last season to his signings but you credit Rogers for getting Klopp to two cup finals with his team, even though some were clearly Klopp signings. You are being a bit of a shister sir....you got outplayed by Huddersfield but revel in our loss to a real title contender. We are a poor team....but I'd wager we won't be far behind you this season. Because when all is said and done, your lot are a poor team too
City and Spurs are way ahead of anyone at the moment, us and Chelsea could go either way over the next few weeks (stay up there or fall right off), Arsenal are about the same as usual, will be in the mix for top 4 with yourselves. Will be interesting to see if United and Chelsea can cope with the Christmas period or not, if either fail the top 6 could be quite different this year going off present league table.
It's patently obvious klopp made no signings til that summer. It's also patently obvious that's de gea has carried Utd on his back. If anything Mourinho obsession with big money has ****ed him up more than anything.
Cheers, I thought it was just me getting things wrong again Fancy de Gea doing the job he is paid for eh, dirty batard
I'm just surprised it's taken this long for people to realise that me being realistic and saying 6th, run in fa cup and last 16 of cl was the best we could do with this squad was not negative or wumming. I've said since the start we had gone backwards and were wide open every time someone plays two decent passes but there you go. I still do not understand klopp decision making regarding defenders and goalies but imo half the issues stem from midfield and the tactics are unbalanced. I'm confident that 2 tweeks I have already suggested on here would stem the tide at the back. As I have said before. The no 6 role.needs to actually stay goal side of opponents who are central and not run about mindlessly. Shape is key to the system. I have also suggested a 41212 formation. I still think we mifht as well go to it.
It's bleed obvious klopp worked wonders actually beat a couple of decent sides in Europa that year and that ultimately Moreno was.lifting the cup and celebrating at it and lallana froze on the day. Coutinho took a ****e pen In league cup final and set the team off on a disastrous shoot out we shouls have won on prior records. Klopp bought mane and frankly improved the side last year but it ran out of steam once he went off.to acon..... This year the balance has been off all season he has his pace up top but the rest of the side are utter pish and he hasnt addressed what we can see happening time and again.
Thank you, you have just said more or less what I said. Klopp did better with Brendan's team than he has with his own purchases.
What ever he has done this season the balance of the side is badly off. However in my view it's poor from firmino, Henderson, lovren and inconsistent from can so... well those are all Rogers players.... klopp has backed them and they have let.him down. Mane, salah, coutinho are the only ones who've put.in really good showings. I think we miss clyne and lallana a decent amount by the look of it... but for some reason the system is broken and the gaps to exploit are huge.
You are missing Clyne and Lallana a lot, however I still think a disciplined holding mid would make a hell of a difference to you over the season (not in games like today), someone who had the intelligence to sit in when needed and not go searching for the glory goal when the match is hard or finely balanced.
Daft argument Diego, like Utd's most useful player for Mourinho was signed by David Moyes from Everton. The same player that got Van Gaal's Utd to the FA Cup final.
