Good lad is campbell! Nice to get the first away win out the way hopefully now we can get a bit of consistency going
Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom: "I said to the players that I'm upset for them and angry with them. Upset that they've not got the result - I can't say deserved, as we didn't take our chances. We didn't capitalise when we were dominant. "And I'm angry because their two attempts on goal - or two on target should I say - both came from set-plays, from corners. When you're not scoring or not capitalising at one end then you've got to be faultless in every other bit, so we weren't today. "I was looking at half-time, no shots, no crosses, nothing [for Hull] and I've never seen that. I was happy with how we were playing, just not happy with the end product." Hull City boss Leonid Slutsky: "We didn't play the best match. But for us, it was very important to win because it was like a demon, one year without an away win. "Today was the first Yorkshire derby for me, with a lot of supporters and I'm very thankful for our supporters. It was unbelievable support, like always. "Maybe we did not deserve the win but I think we deserved the win for all of the time, all away matches. Today, luck was on our side and I am very happy. "Campbell is the first forward now. He's very aggressive, he's a very strong individual and a leader of the team, but he needs more than three weeks. It's difficult for him to play the whole 90 minutes."
Henriksen/Slutsky Proschwitz/Bruce How much time was Prozzy given before Bruce deemed that enough was enough?
Fair summation Driff. Poor division this season, that a reasonably strong, organised, balanced team could do well in. A team that may need a bit of a boost in January to maintain impetus for the final push. Us? At best, interest will be generated in the speculation about where Bowen may end up. EDIT : Forgot to add : ALLAMS OUT !!!
I don't know if it was down to the weather but awful game, they had a number of shots from outside the box but sky high over our goal, they also had a couple of scrambles in the box, has for us well to be honest its the worst I've seen us play for a while we didn't pass it well, couldn't hold onto the ball and didn't have hardly any shots however we've played like that and we have won which let's be honest is a massive boost for us all after such a shocking away run and I was there. The crowd were great right to the end. Don't be fooled we still have a lot of work to do after today's performance but enjoy your weekend after all we haven't had many good ones after city have played away.
If we'd have spent that, at the time reasonably large, stack of cash on a footballer we might have gone one step further.
Is this league tight ? or is it me..Loads of football to be played. A decent run from now until Christmas and we could be knocking at the door of the playoffs. Still its Hull City. We'll need to tighten the defence which looks so rocky and on edge it does nothing for the average City fans ticker. A shrewd purchase in January and the door might open.
Today was City's 102nd senior match against Barnsley, consolidating the Tyke-rriers as the most frequent opponent in our history, 8 clear of the next most-played team. Those 102 ties have split 79 in the League second tier, 20 in the League third tier and 3 in the FA Cup. City have won 40, drawn 22 and lost 40, scoring 164 goals.
