Have been talking with a few mates and we were mulling over possible strikers to buy in the summer
some might seem very ambitious, but with the money we have we might as well give it a go
    possible strikers..
    - podolski
    - lukaku
    - connor wickham
    - pav
    - van wolfeswinkel
    - defoe
    - my friend said someone who came to wigan on loan a few years back and scoreed a lot of goals but they couldn't afford to buy him, don't know his name?

I know we're not going to get someone as good as 'him' but I'd like to have a long term striker bought in summer!
what strikers do you think we should get, if at all?

    podolski - yes
lukaku - madrid and a whole load of top european clubs want him so i doubt we'll get him
connor wickham - dunno about this one
pav- would be a good buy at the right price
winkel - yes as long as he'd not massively over priced
defoe - 'arry would never sell
think the bloke you're thinking of is zaki - not heard much of him lately. only did good in the first half of the season then had a strop for the second half as i recall.

  3. - podolski - Good player, but i think he could get over run ni the prem
    - lukaku - nah
    - connor wickham - nah
    - pav - Maybe but not good enough to fill Carroll's old place
    - van wolfeswinkel - I don't know. A bit of a gamble comnig to the prem, seems a great player, but i'd have to see him against prem team.
    - defoe - If he was available i'm pretty sure we'd be beaten in the race to sign him. He would be good enough to fill Carroll's place, but i doubt we'd get him.

I think Connor Wickham would be a great signing. He has shown he has the talent, is young and will certainly grow into a talented footballer. However, due to his age, we'd need to purchase a striker who was ready for consistent first team football. For me, I'd take Crouch. I think he is a very good player, with a good track record of goals and assists. Yes, some fans aren't his biggest fans but he would do well here. Another name I think would be a good player to sign for us would be Clint Dempsey. A very talented player, can play in a number of positions and works hard for the team, as well as chipping in with goals.

If we signed 2 of those 3 in the summer, I think we'd be well on the way to forgetting Andy Carroll.

It has to be a statement of intent...It has to be a young, potentially world class player!

Lukaku is certainly a bridge too far IMO but someone like that. It needs to have the same excitement/disbelief level that Ben Arfa's loan deal entailed...I know this is a lot to ask, but I do think it's what is needed!!!

Podolski would be awesome but i think wages would be the problem. Pretty sure he's on a fair amount at Cologne

We're not playing FM here, we need someone proven :)

Pavlyuchenko would do nicely or mayve even Bendtner altough he's a bit inconsistent.

Lukaku is a beast and would do a job for us but can't see us getting him if the big boys are sniffing around.

Cavani can go at the right price and I reckon he would come here but I don't think Pie Boy will pay the big money it'll require to get him.

Mario Gomez/Benzema/Adebayor/Santa Cruz could all be available at the end of the season but we'll be unlikely to get them unless we finish well.

Elmander in the summer on a free strikes me as an Ashley-type deal to me, no fee and within wage restrictions. Good player.

If Santa Cruz can prove at Blackburn for the rest of the season that he isn't injury prone I would like to sign him, I rated him when he was there before!

Doubt we would get Cavani, Gomez & Adebayor. All would want big wages & other clubs would be interested.

Wouldn't mind Pav if he wasn't too much money.
