Most of the Surfers who get into trouble tend to get stuck in rips, and that comes down to lack of experience. But they are usually quite close to shore. The lifeguards or other surfers like myself tend to paddle over to them and talk to them about how to get themselves out of the rip. But you're right it's people with boats who cause the most problems. You don't need a licence to own and pilot a boat and lots of people get themselves into dangerous situations by not reading the weather, tides, conditions, or having the right equipment etc. To be fair though, most of the shouts from my local lifeboat station are for legitimate reasons, namely that vessels have broken down and are drifting towards rocks, or that there's been a medical emergency.
Off to catch a flight early tomorrow morning. Well, two flights actually. First one is from Cornwall to London, second one from London to Gran Canaria. Looking forward to a short break in the sunshine.
Yeah much easier to fly. Plus then I don't have to pay to leave the car at Gatwick. All the best fella. Keep these ****s in order whilst I'm away
Nice. Got any tips ? I'm hoping to get out and about and see some Volcanos and Geological points of interest etc. There's surf there too, so I've packed my wetsuit. Will probably just be splashing about in the shallows with my little one though.
Sorry mate. Can't really help you there. My mates got an apartment in Megan just behind the marina. It's got a roof terrace and my wife and I spent the whole week either on the roof or in the bars and restaurants on the marina. Lazy as ****, chilled break. Just what the doctor ordered!
So, nine days short of six months and I've done everything bar kitchen and utility room. Having a break until the new year now...
