Chaps. Does anyone know of a boozer in the North East where you can still get Ex? The last pint I had was 2 years ago in Lanchester. Cheers.
Longship in Hebburn done it a couple years ago but it's now Greene King so assume it's gone. Was a lovely pint mind
The clock opposite the garter where the green market used to be not the poshest pub but hey pint of half and half for £2 odd been a while since I've been in though
I think what was Newcastle Exhibition as I knew it from the late 70's onwards is a dead brand, there are Exhibition Ales around the North East but Ex has gone, last brewed in Edinburgh when the Tyne brewery of S&N was finally closed, Newcastle Brown was shifted down to the Team Valley and then to Tadcaster, long gone are the links that these famous brands had with the city, they should remove the Newcastle from Brown Ale along with the Blue Star logo as it bears no relation to the beer that was brewed at the Tyne brewery. It was bad enough when they shifted production to the Federation plant on the Team Valley, I worked in a working mans club in 1979 and the Fed beer tasted like **** luckily we had Drybrough's Heavy and Scotch in there.
Albert they serve it in a bar in Outer *****lia. Let me know when you go looking for it so I can pop round and keep your missus company.
