Not surprised at all tbh. Only real surprise is how fast it happened, our owners usually back managers longer than this.
please log in to view this image Think Gary is being a little harsh but doesn't look good for the owners - squad only found out through the media themselves.
Dont think he is being harsh at all. The Silva episode shows just how inept we are. We need a drastic overhaul and hopefully any new manager will insist on total control of the playing staff - including the final say on incomings.
Agree with Barwell. Whilst our performances of late have been lackluster and uninspiring there are clearly issues with those responsible for recruitment. Ours has been very poor, Maguire aside. Good players played in the wrong system or just totally unsuited and also failing to get identified targets. One silver lining for the club are the younger players coming through.
The real loser here is Fosse who will have to change his signature yet again! No consideration for the fans.
correct decision unfortunately. Been a good servant has Shaky but a little out of his depth bless him. Maybe he will return as Big Sams #2 oh god! lol
Lineker can be a real asshole at times, did the club really need one of its legends slamming the club on twitter?! Ranieris signing is another good example. I will always back the owners, they often go deep in their pockets for the good of the club, on and off the pitch, we'd be nowhere near this level if Mandaric was still in charge.
Personally I'd have given him another game or two up to 10 for the season but can see why he's gone. I'm already fed up of other fans and media saying it's unfair and we expect to be in the top 4. No, we think given the money spent and recent success we should have enough to finish in the top half, even 9th/10th and play well along the way. Seriously just saw a comment on FB from someone saying we're awful sacking him because we've only lost to the big clubs and played really well! What!! Clearly these people haven't watched us. As for the media, this is what I'm seeing; Feb 2017: poor Raneiri, Shakey the snakey October 2017: poor Shakey, Leicester are discraceful They really can't make their minds up on him can they
To be fair shakey the snakey was about right. Not sad that shakey is going for his actions on ranieri but i do think hes been sacked to early. 6 points from 8 sounds bad but hes faced the 4 or 5 top 6 teams? Dont think anyone is getting much out of them matches. Hes started to change things up a bit and whilst i think hes out of his depth, the trigger has been pulled after 8 games just smacks of the owners employing him only because the owners felt that they were forced to after the good run he had at the end of last season. Im thinking they want a big name. If managers get fired for a poor run of form and the team playing badly, no top manager would have a job. Zidane is struggling, conte is struggling at the mo and pep, klopp and jose were last year too
There's still never been any evidence he did wrong to Ranieri, all media gossip to bad mouth the club. As I say I'd have given him longer but what people don't realise is both managers were sacked not for the results but diabolical performances and showing a lack of ability/willingness to change it. The owners are loyal people, they gave Ranieri as long as they did because of the previous season, clearly they didn't want to sack him but it was end of Feb and we'd been crap all season. Shakey as you say was given the job as the owners felt they owed it to him. They should have been stronger and thanked him for his efforts and employed a managers not a coach
There was a lot of fan pressure to get Shakey hired. Even Mahrez said that he was the best man to take the team forwards. Just shows how much he knows . The owners have to get it right this time or their plans (so persuasively outlined by the much missed Champions of England) won't be coming to fruition any time soon. They have spent almost as much on compensation as they have in the transfer market.
Yes i understand its about performances too. Name me a team who when in a downturn of form doesnt go through bad performances. Liverpool looked toothless without mane last season. Chelsea are looking pedestrian at the moment. United and city looked poor during their poor runs. At least ranieri had poor performances for half a season. Poor performances over 8 games is too short. Hell conte would have been sacked this time last year if it was down to poor performances after we had been thrashed (luckily he wasnt)
I'm no disagreeing, as I say, I'd have given him longer. You can always see the clubs side more when it's your own club though. I'm sure if it was another club I'd feel it was really unfair but it's because each fans are more knowledgable of their own club than others are. I've seen so much crap spouted by other fans about us it's unbelievable. I think Raneiri had long enough ordinarily, it was purely because of the previous season people kicked off but you can't live in the past in football
Agreed, I wanted him to be a success but it just wasn't to be. It would have seemed harsh not to give him a go. I think the owners are taking unfair stick from outside but as you say they need to get it right this time. Not the title winning backroom staff have gone, we need a fresh start and perspective
There's a very clear difference between a couple of games off the boil (which is what you're referring to with Chelsea, Liverpool, United and City) and our situation. We've just three wins in 16 league games (against West Brom, Watford and Brighton) with 29 goals conceded. From the last 16 games we've taken 14 points. Over a season (38 games) that would give us 33 points. With that total we'd have been relegated from the league in every season since 2010.
Probably would still be going on about how he get free tickets from his high ranking contacts in the club who gave him such scoops as us getting perspex dividers in our ground and how the changing rooms are being renovated.
