I agree with GCTiger but also agree we should not panic 3 games in. Worry for me is the lack of quality chances for the forwards, negative home tactics. Oli could bolster our midfield but NP seems determined to ship out old regime players, probably just a wages issue as we are still on a tight budget. I'm usually a positive, glass half full person, but really down after todays performace, or lack of it! We've beaten Ipswich but what a difference a week makes eh? That now does not seem such the feat it was this time last Saturday!!
He has to go now. If he's given any money to spend he will only waste it. Let someone else spend it , more likely do a better job,
What money has he wasted so far? He's bought Fryatt, McLean, Hobbs, Evans, Stewart, Chester and Dudgeon and they're all good players(I think we could have got a better CB than Hobbs for £800k and McLean looks overpriced, but other than that, they're all good deals.) Most of our team came in on frees when we were skint, to pick up the likes of Koren and Rosenior for nothing was great business, others look less impressive, but what do you expect for nothing?
Hobbs, Dudgeon and Evans have been awful this season. Simpson is ****, Mclean was a rip off. Adebola is not what we need. OTher than those his signings have been decent. Except maybe Belaid.
Do you think we have a price cap on top of our salary cap? Is McLean or Fryatt NP's biggest purchase to date?....I get the impression we won't get over the £2m level again soon....not until the JB matter has been settled.
As I've repeatedly said, its a long season and yes we've started poorly and its disappointing, but the season is a couple of weeks old, give them a chance and get behind the team UTT
I find it funny how virtually ever one of NP's signings (with the exception of Adebola) were greeted almost unanimously on this forum as being good signings when he made them. Then when a player has a bad patch all those incredibly wise (after the event) types condemn the manager for his bad judgement. I've got a good idea. Why don't those experts decide who we should buy and tell us exactly how well they will play in every game for the next two seasons?
We gave him two years and he took us up once and nearly twice. Just goes to show how easy football is when you are at better clubs
McLean was **** last season and I just said I though we overpaid for him, but he was good at Leeds and I thought he had earned a start today, 4-5-1 is no good at home against a **** team like Palace, so I would have started him, even though I don't think he's a world beater.
Looking at those comments above you can see what any manager is up against with sections of our fans, the last two games have been Pearsons worst since he took over but that's two games in a week, we won last Saturday?! If we change the manager 'next week' is the new guy going to do any better with Pearsons players?
nearly every home game last season was like that if not worse....thats why i dont get people saying, its ridiculous to judge him after 5 games...im judging him over 50 odd games...and his home record is appalling..and i dont think thats too strong a term for it..
I agree the home record is appaling, but then again the away record is outstanding, until this week v Leeds. Pearson is unlucky in so much that home form is so important to fans, if he doesn't sort this out soon then the Percies and kneejerkers of the City fraternity might just get their wish and get a new manager, although this might be exactly what we don't need.
to be honest, i knee jerked last october about pearson, wanting him out then was ridiculous i admit........ my opinion of him hasnt changed tho, and now 50 games later i feel its ok to have that opinion...it worries me that tonight he admits...he might have to look at the way we play at home!! its taken him till now to notice that has it! trouble is with away form, it will level out! no 2 ways about it, even the greats, clough, ferguson, mourinho cant go for years and years hardly losing away from home...when that away form levels out, if our home form continues, people dont need spelling out what that means.. this is his 3rd team imo..his inherited team, the mixture of inheritance and his players from january onwards..and now completely his team..and all 3 have been equally **** at home, he seems incapable of finding a formula, it is still very early days in the "3rd teams" quest i admit, but the time for excuses is over, 6 wins in 27 games, would have lost most managers there job by now imo..
If you think Hobbs is a good player , then i'm sorry your sadly mistaken. as for money, someone's paying them wages, wages which are wasted on players like Hobbs, mckenna, adebyola, mclean and gulash . surely, there sre better players to waste money on.
