Watching him last two games and I knew somthing was up with the lad, Is he unhappy? Injured? Tired? but it seems the reason he had been off the pace is to do with him being a Muslim and fasting during Ramadan. I remember reading José Mourinho comments on Sully Ali Muntari and on how it showed in training. do you think that is it?

    Is he fasting?

    You sure of that?

If so , it will have definitely affected his performance.

Just been in Morocco and everyone does nothing during this period, but it ends on the 30th of August luckily.

Seems true though, if he is Muslim?

Never heard about him fasting, but my take is that he just isn't fit. Was away from the team for weeks, and he probably didn't do proper training in Ghana.

One or two weeks and he'll be back. NEVER doubt Tiote ;)

Most North African countries are Muslim, but I wasn't sure on Ivory Coast. I believe you though.

    From wiki :

Religion in Côte d'Ivoire remains very heterogeneous, with Islam (almost all Sunni Muslims) and Christianity (mostly Roman Catholic) being the major religions. Muslims dominate the north, while Christians dominate the south. In 2008, 38.6% of Côte d'Ivoire was Muslim, followed by 32.8% Christian, 11.9% practicing indigenous religions and 16.7% with no religion.

For example Drogba and Kalou (I think) are Christian , whilst Tiote , Toure x2 and Eboue are Muslim.

He was slow to get back to the defence after attacking today - him, Obertan and Jonas looked unfit

ugh, he's a muzzie? i dont like him anymore (i kid).

I reckon his form's more down to his interrupted preseason than fasting. Muslims tend to get up early to eat before the sun rises, so i'm sure Cheick and/or the club will have been clued in enough to get a lot of slow release carbohydrates in for breakfast, ensuring a lack of energy wouldnt be an issue. The early kick off will have made this less of a problem too.
