Penalty to Madrid, unsurprisingly. Silly challenge, but he got fouled further up the pitch. 1-1. Ronaldo. Twat. Aurier in the book, too. Might be an idea to sub him off, as we know he's capable of getting a second.
Watching on Spanish TV and even the commentators who are very pro Real Madrid are saying it wasn't a penalty.
Just because Aurier stupidly went to ground it doesn’t mean that he took Kroos down. ****s me off that the useless BT sport commentators don’t even make any mention of it
1-1 HT. Very annoying. Took the lead and they really didn't cause us any problems at the back after that, until the penalty. Really cheap, soft decision, but Aurier shouldn't give them that opportunity.
Definitely a dive, but a bloody stupid challenge and understand why given. For a supposed 'experienced' international defender, Aurier has some poor lapses of judgement. And he had been playing really well til then.
Verts is struggling at Left back...Aurier needs to find his brain. I hope the players have absorbed the occasion now and we can finish the job...they seem a bit hesitant with the thinking COYS
Other than booking Ronaldo the ref has given us nothing, no argument with their penalty for me, but we should have had one too and Aurier definitely fouled which allowed the move that led to the penalty. Good match though but think we needed to get to half time ahead. BIg half coming up.
Frustrating since Kroos had lost the ball with his touch. Minimal contact but it's no great surprise it's given. Still in this though and playing pretty well. Sissoko's been excellent but I can't help but feel we need someone better on the ball out there. Perhaps get Trippier on and go back 4 to push Aurier up as he's on a booking. Having Llorente up there to win headers has been a masterstroke from Pochettino, really effective so far in helping us get up the pitch. All to play for COYS
Really silly penalty to give away. It was a nothing challenge but why go to ground in the first place? You're in the Bernabeu playing against Real Madrid...that'll be given as a penalty all day long. Aurier contributed superbly going forward but has been a liability at the back so far this season - that whole section of play began because him and Sissoko were pissing about with the ball on the byline and he gave it away (I think he was also booked for simulation btw). Put simply, he continues to remind of the 2014-15 model of Kyle Walker. On the overall balance of play, I'd say 1-1 is a fair score to take in at HT. They've had the majority of possession and better chances, but we have certainly made them look uncomfortable at the back. Son to come on in the 2nd half to tighten the screw? All in all, immensely proud of the display so far. COYS
Well...fun while it lasted...they will come out and batter us second half. At least we scored one and drew the first half! As for the penalty...UEGA rule 792 clearly states that in the event of a team daring to take the lead away to Real or Barca in the CL it is mandatory to give a penalty to the home team no matter how not a foul the non foul was... Or words to that effect
So the BT Sport panel says that we should've had a penalty and they shouldn't? Can't say that I'm surprised that's not what was given, to be honest.
