With Leicester currently languishing in the relegation zone and needing three points to tie with Stoke above them, tonight's game is looking like a "must win" for the Foxes.

Relegation, this season, would complete the spiral and draw this prescient thread to a conclusion. When I started it, I never imagined that LCFC would be relegated within two seasons of fluking the title; I thought it would take at least three.

Therefore, I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and predict that they will win tonight.

Don't let me down, please, Foxes.

I thought it was worth revisiting the opening posts of this tragic thread.

This comment in the second post was interesting.

It is my very firm opinion that a top 4 finish this season will come at the cost of complete and utter humiliation next season, in both the CL and the Prem.

In the CL, for example, even Leicester's fans cannot think that they, with their Wimbledon-esque brand of park-the-bus-then-hoof-it-up-the-park-for-Vardy football, is going to be anything other than the poorest grade of cannon-fodder for proper football teams?

So they went on to fulfill Tragic's prediction of a top 4 finish by winning the league and then went on to reach the QF of the CL. Meanwhile Spurs finished third in a two horse race and crashed out of the CL into the Europa League and then promptly crashed out of that.

 

It's that kind of thinking that is going to get you relegated, Akky.

 

My overarching prediction was that LCFC's fluking success in the league would, ultimately, come at a huge cost in successive seasons. In that, I have been proven 100% correct, even to the point where LCFC find themselves fighting a relegation battle a mere two seasons following that fluke.

Only a complete ****wit would deny that.

Not at all HIAG, we've played 4 out of last season's top 5 already. We're in a false position. Under Shakespeare we're unbeaten against sides that finished 7th or below last season.

We're low on confidence and have been struggling with injuries (particularly in midfield). Once we get going again we'll be fine.

Read the entire first few pages of that thread, and there can be absolutely no mistaking the fact that my overarching claim was that LCFC would pay a huge cost, in the future, for fluking the title.
