Match Day Thread Saints v Newcastle Sunday 15th October 16:00

Pretty worried about how poor we are actually. Nice that we came back, but it was so easy for Newcastle until late in the game.

Fraser Forster.... he is truly terrible. I feel like I've been kind to him and not criticised him, but he is costing us a lot of points.

 

Lucky to get a point, honestly. I’ll take it.

Bouffant earned himself a start next game. I do not expect him to make much of it, but he worked hard out there today and deserves a reward. Is it bad though that his touch and ball control were the least best part of his game today?

Lemina is so good I might be tempted to move him into a more attacking role.

 

Stats last season showed FF was crap so no surprises.

 

I have always liked you Romsey, but you really need to rein it on Boufal. Give the lad a chance, for ****s sake.

 

Can't complain about the result. we deserved a point and didnt deserve much more than that. Two games now we have looked much better with Boufal and Gabbiadini. Hopefully the manager can see that himself.

We are going to be in for a hellish mid-season. This has been the easiest kindest start to a season possible and we are in for a rough time. There's no comfort in being in 10th place after that fixture list, holding onto top 10 will be a miracle.

 

Yeah it's embarrassing how many write him off. Before today only around 1200 minutes in PL I believe... A lot from bench.

 

He's a player. I want to see him on the pitch. Give the lad a run of games.

 

Just on way back. We scored from open play! Yay!
Redmond was woeful I would drop him for a few games. Boufal looked good when he came on. Front 3/4 not really moving about means we are static in attack.
VVD couldn't be bothered, sat back and watched their 2nd. His body language was poor and (barring a headed block late on) didn't look to make much effort.

Quick points:

Pellegrino now needs to make a decision on forster. His confidence is shot to pieces. So we either need to stick with him were he could cost us a few more games or drop him.

Lemina is brilliant

Boufel did far better then Redmond and deserves to start.

Tadic looks lazy

Having two strikers may work, but they need to be given time to click

Van Dijk looks half assed or looks like he is still not match fit. I hope it is the latter...

I’m sure we have played worse but it’s hard to remember when. Under Puel we just missed chances. At the moment we just aren’t creating them. Not a single player looks remotely happy. I have no idea what the answer is but some sort of major rethink is required.

 

First one certainly; almost a straight red, the later one might be a little harsh..

What l noticed at the end of the game was when VVD cleared a goalbound shot by heading it for a corner; no player came forward to back-slap or high-five him...

 

I doubt Watford expected to beat Arsenal and draw with Liverpool so far this season. Can't look at games and say we should and shouldn't be winning that one. Just have to go out and play regardless who the opponent is.

Lemina pointed to his head when Virgil was stood there for their 2nd. Despite Davis suggesting to the press that there were no issues with VVD I think it may not be the case.

 

Just got back from London and saw that we had equalised....glad to take that as another loss would have been hard to take. We scored and got a point....both those factors indicate possibilities, whereas another loss would have us truly looking over our shoulders. Take it and move on.

 

I agree on VVD, a lot of remonstrating, but this belies his body language. I'm not convinced he gives a ****.
