Please god it doesn't come to it - and I don't think it will - but if we did find ourselves getting into hot water down the bottom, I don't think your trust, or lack of, will be tested. MP won't be here come even January in that instance, I would suspect. Rightly or wrongly.

If fan pressure can supposedly get rid of Puel, it can get rid of MP too - especially at that end of the table.

for me its time to go all out. the team kinda picks itself in defence and midfield, I would give vvd the nod over yoshi. the front 4 is where it gets tricky. Newcastle will come down full of confidence, and not looking to park the bus. I would play JWP in a no 10 and all of our so called strikers together with Austin through the middle and with Gabbi and Long providing a little width but not playing wide. 3 strikers playing together hopefully supporting each other. the midfield and defence have to look for the quick through ball or over the top, and JWP providing through open play and set pieces.
we will need to start scoring and looks the only way esp against teams similar to ourselves, we may lose a few 4 goals to 3, but we need goals back and we need the fans on their feet again.
its kinda how Liverpool play, but we have a better defence and better defensive midfield

JWP has been all over the media this week, I think he's starting.
We really need to go for it, and ask questions of them from the first minute.

    Define 'hot water'?

There's a good chance imo that we'll spend some time in the bottom 3 over winter, though I don't think we'll be anywhere near it come the end of the season.

That probably is my definition. I'd be surprised if we spent more than, say, three games in the bottom three without taking action. Even with a dire shortage of quality attacking players, this squad shouldn't be anywhere the bottom three in my opinion. We need January to make us exciting again (which is the fault of the board). We shouldn't need January to keep us up (which would be the fault of the manager).

We're going to have to really. Because if the mood on this thread is in any way indicative of the mood in the stadium tomorrow, we'll need a good start or it'll quickly turn sour.

Hopefully we'll be at them like a greyhound out of the slips.

Either way, looking at the table, it seems silly to be saying it this early but these next 3 games are absolutely vital.

Think team selection might play a part in crowd mood too, rightly or wrongly.

Glad I'll be in the pub tbh. Free drinks and day off Monday are a good combination if the match is too depressing.

JWP is not a no.10 at the moment; he cannot shoot from open play and needs too much time to find a through ball. Boufal should play there.

I don't disagree. But JWP can take a set piece. Right now, that's an option we should be taking very seriously.

Especially as Virgil & Maya look like our most likely bloody scorers!

Yeah we should be comfortably mid table with our squad. Regardless of our attack being blunt we know we do have some quality. Obviously need to put that into practice but I'm prepared for another mid table season.

Just can't understand why we can't score. Tadic gabbiadini should be an effective partnership. With boufal to support and Austin/long when we need to change up.

Yeah, Redmond is equally remarkable: 7th in the PL in shots taken, 53rd in expected goals. Only one of his 23 shots came from the danger area (width of the goal, from the penalty spot in), and that was blocked. Tom Ince is the only player who has been similarly wasteful, which feels appropriate as I'm not 100% sure they aren't the same person.

I should stop being negative, going to the match. Following lawro logic were due a big win so it will happen.

Because the whole team attacks, not only two players. Granted, in our case only two players attack while the rest of the team are watching them.

After 15 days it's finally match day!
I'm feeling confident so I'm going for a 1-0 to us. (Might be a few wines in but not too many to see us scoring more than 1).
This will also see the start of a 4 match unbeaten run.
