It's not as though WW2 was just any old war though. Churchill will go down in history as a crucial figure in the biggest and most important conflict the world has ever seen. Non-stories like the deaths of a few criminals will be forgotten.
The term Concentration Camp as you are no doubt aware was termed in the Boer war. They were known as such because they held large numbers of Boers, therefore they were "Concentrated" in that camp. It does not mean that they were tortured or murdered like the Nazi ones which are similar in name only. Churchill was indeed a ****, a terrible person and a bully, but he's the greatest Briton in history because of what he did for us and because he was a Giant of a politician.
I never said any different. I just said he was a **** and was accused of wumming because of it. even those, like you, that like him agree with that.
But you were dangling the worm of wummery, fortunately I know my military history and I knew what you meant. It's immaterial surely though, we could trawl back through history and find many great people who could be described as ****s for what they did in their early years. Mandela for instance would be a **** in some people's eyes but his greater achievements surely cancel out his ****ishness overall?
I wasn't dangling anything. I just think he was a ****. And he was. I'm no fan of eamon de valera, but politically he made **** out of Churchill. I am sure you'd find ****ish things about a lot of people but Churchill was a man who displayed a basic lack of humanity. That may have made him a great leader during a conflict, but any other time he is nothing but a drunken ****.
In a conflict yeah. i never denied that. He did get rinsed by Dev though (not you, DeValera). He made a bit of a dick of himself there.
I Don't honestly know, as you probably know when it comes to Irish history i'm practically a blank slate.
