Only a little bit mate. Got a twisted sense of humour gets me in trouble sometimes.

I'm an animal lover so I know what it's like when pets are ill.

But when your mate tells you his cat was knocked over on the A1 and he scraped him up with a shovel and put him in a pizza box to bury him, and I'm laughing so much I'm in tears, I guess it can be taken the wrong way.

My cat is a bit of a ****. She demands milk and starts wrecking **** if she doesn't get it. She will literally knock stuff off the shelves and then start swiping at you until you give her milk. I love her, but she resorts to violence to get her needs met.

I've got a dog too, Archibald. He's an old boy now, he'll be 13 next month. Rhodesian Ridgeback. He is obsessed with food, but that's normal for dogs. He's also got the worst smelling farts in the universe, but I still love him.

My ex has just got a kitten. I'm more of a dog person but it can be nice company sometimes.

Proper little **** though when it's on one while I'm trying to sleep <grr>

I've always had a dog, since I was 3 years old. Grew up with Labs and then my first dog of my own was a beautiful Pointer x Setter. I also had a mad Springer Spaniel at the time too. Now I've just got the old boy Archibald and the demonic cat.

Same for me. As soon as I retire I'm getting a dog. A lab or retriever!

Gonna have to be a big dog. Ridgebacks are great dogs but wouldn't have a boxer.

8 years to retirement but already planning for the day.

I don't want to wait until retirement, 20 years away anyway.

Best dog I had was a border collie, so he intelligent and easy to control with whistles and basically grunts.

I miss the walks tbh and have never been one to walk alone for miles. Can't beat a dog for going on walks

    Why not a boxer?

Ridgebacks are lovely dogs. Great with Kids and very very loyal. Some people get scared of them because they are ****ing big units and they have a reputation from when they were used to hunt lions in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia). But they are great dogs and as long as you have a firm hand and can handle them on a lead then it's fine. Their desire to hunt is pretty strong though, so controlling them on the lead and good recall is essential otherwise the neighbourhood cats will get hunted down.

My old boy these days though is happy to hunt for bits of pasty that have fallen on the pavement and he's a mellow lad. I got him as a rescue dog when he was 6 and he was a handful ! My missus was walking him home once and he saw a cat, he pulled her over in an instant and was locked on to the cat. Thankfully it managed to scarper over a wall just before he was about to shred the poor little ****er.

****ing fleas are a right royal pain.
I've been using a natural product called Biospotix, but tbh it's nowhere near as good as the chemicals, as much as I hate using that ****.

For me personally I have never seen the point in the smaller dogs. I don't dislike them etc just not my cup of tea.

Most dogs need an "alpha" so IMO bad dogs are usually down to bad or weak owners.

And they are not human, that annoys me

It wouldn't be fair to get a dog when I'm out the house 12 hours a day and I can't take it to work.

I've had some friends who've had problems with boxers. Medical problems to do with inbreeding. I know all purebreds have problems but it just sounds like boxers have more problems than others.

That's all just hearsay though mate based on friends experiences. Unsure there are many owners out there have no problems at all.

I'll definitely consider a ridgeback. A friend had 3. A bitch and 2 pups. They were awesome dogs. I'm a fan if the breed.
