erm ... the bit Page highlighted ''so it will be a perfect measure of Liverpool's progress under the 50-year-old German'' which is the only bit we've been discussing.

What?, that Klopp is a **** manager?, or that it's fair after tomorrow's game to assess us as a team?

Neither of those things will apply based on tomorrow's game, but you'll side with McNutly and the mancs over us all day every day.<whistle>

The whole point of his article was to show he was ****, and to use tomorrow's game to prove he's not, you know tomorrow's game that they are odds on to win.<laugh>

It marks his second anniversary in the job, with a massive game at home to United, I think it's perfectly fair to say the game provides a perfect measure of the progress made.

It's a very well balanced article and praises him as well as pointing out the obvious flaws in that current side which have been there since he arrived. Most of the text is quoting Molby verbatim ffs <laugh>

Nah, that's just your paranoia and anti McNulty and BBC bias kicking in.

All the indicators were that the money was available. I'm baffled as to why we didn't go for some "second best" when the first choices were unavailable, but I see that being down to Klopp rather than the owners.
I'm still fully behind him, btw. I think people expected a miracle worker, and that was too high an expectation, imo, for both him and the owners. If we are ever to get back to the top, I can only see it being a long, hard slog.

He's a perfect fit for Liverpool. Had he won both or even one of the finals, he would have legend status already. Rafa was similarly baffling with some of his decisions and he too was a perfect fit for us - but - he won his big final. Klopp's is coming .... I'm sure.

Tbh, I really can't be arsed with what he or any of the journos put out. They're paid to write something, anything, so that's what they do. His opinion is in no way more valid or insightful than that of anyone on here. In terms of the reality of football he is irrelevant.

Take a look at the size of the comments section and the insults about Klopp and you'll get a general idea why the article was written and posted today with a comment section open.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I still think that Klopp is one stubborn mothertrucker and that he flies or falls by that. If things fall into place the way he wants then it's all good but if there are hitches, like there have been a few with us, i.e. not being able to get first choice players, squad issues, then it's hit and miss

What was interesting about that article was when it was first put in a few days ago the games played graphic included all games - league, cups etc where Klopp has a better record but at some point someone maybe mcnulty maybe not decided to redo the article and only include league games.
Which gave Rogers the edge. I have said all along I think the two are the same standard still can’t make a decision but changing the article to suit their current agenda would imply there is a different emphasis.
Ftr had Klopp not got to Europy final I think his league game wins would be higher as he definitely prioritised that competition and didn’t go for some of the surrounding league games
Interestingly someone else did that ?<whistle>

    If you look at things.

In 1990s there wasn't that many clubs up there. blackburn pretended to be big for a couple years, leeds turn up once, arsenal came on late in the decade. We were consistently 3rd/4th once souness left... but not second to utd consistently. we were never consistent. Then under houllier we briefly looked like challenging til houllier bought terribly poorly and we sacked him. Then the Chelsea period begun. Rafa came in and was up there but there was always utd, Chelsea etc. we have never REALLY do to that status of being a real challenger. one or two seasons pop up as outstanding for us but it just gets close but never "that close"

since Rafa left we have bee 6th to 8th MOSTLY just Rodgers one season breaks the cycle and now Klopp's 4th.

This tells me that LFC fans "expect" a title challenge but the club is no where near it and have not been near it for 27 years realistically. Its a long term 5 year slog to build yourself up. We are 2 years into klopp. right now his team looks worse than his first 6 months defense and attack is off too. This NOW is it a trend? i don't know.

We are 7 years into FSG. are they progressing who should we be measuring against?

    Arsenal? Spurs?

Can't be cheslea, can't be city... they are ignoring ffp or HAVE IGNORED FFP.

Certainly it seems to me that spurs have been as inconsistent but since 2010 they have been 5 or 6th but the last two years they have got into the cl slots due to a club or two imploding. they are strong and improving... but imo nowhere near winning a title.

Arsenal for the past 12 years have always been 3rd and 4th. but nowhere near a title that are just a bit better and richer than us over the period.

This is not easy. Theres now 3 mega rich clubs in utd, city and cheslea (no matter what bobby says) and 3 clubs below them. To actually peak and beat all 5 is very very hard and everything has to be right

Houllier never really got it just so.
rafa never quite got it. 2 players shy bascially.

    Evans was nowhere near.
    Hodgson was ridicuous
Rdgers got that one season where he has no cups, no europe and 11 matchs won in a row without any distractions that put us into 2nd. otherwise poor signings and chaos.

I think We and arsenal look similar. I thin the actual talent i nthe board room and senior executives are mirrored. neither club worth a thru-pence. Spurs at the top under levy look really well run if a bit... well.. unwilling to react to the tv money.. their scouting and youth development looks excellent.

I wonder about LFC.. whether any one thing is really well done? scouting.... call up southampton.... youth... has it improved? i dunno. maybe.. its not near spurs yet... nor utd... Coaching... hmmm... Stadium. Spurs and arsenal get the job done. we get 1/4 of the ground done then have a seizure.

    I just don't know.

Klopp walking into a **** storm of his own making?, even talking about his own "sacking", not the optimistic energetic style we're used to.

The German added: "If they sack me now I don't think there would be a lot of managers who would do the job better than I do.

"There's not the biggest distance between us and the top teams.

"If I came in today as the new manager and if everybody would give us this kind of time to take the next step that would be perfect."

    Sounds a bit desperate really.

Yeah, and like both squads are equal in numbers and strength after injured players are removed.
