For anyone wondering how the playoffs might shape up here's Sky's explanation. Looks like the 2 Irish sides shouldn't face each other.

 

ehh we beat them at the euros, albeit a second string. Was an unbelievable night in Cardiff. Never seen such carnage when we scored. Cracking atmoshere from both sets of fans. Welsh were very gracious in defeat also

 

Argentina look like qualifying. Went 1-0 down in the 1st minute but now lead thanks to a Messi hat trick.

Even if they finish 5th a play off will be against NZ.

 

Qualified: Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia

Play-off: Peru

Missed out: Chile, Paraguay

 

Panama qualify

USA out


Shame Chile won't be there though.

Honduras v Australia

As I'm sure we all expected. And this is why International football is so exciting.

 

Yeah dead right TSS, everyone expected Panama to qualify automatically and the USA to miss out completely

Good luck to Peru and Honduras!! We need a strong Latin American and African challenge in the World Cup finals next summer.

 

That's really sad for USA. There was a lot of hype about Pulisic, that is all wasted now. But also, they have been quite bad.

 

It's long past time that they purge the older players from that roster. Pulisic is a genuine monster, and very few of their regulars will be around by the time the next World Cup takes place (14 of the 23 players they fielded for yesterday's match were over 30, and only 5 will be under 30 in 2022).

Probably would have happened anyway, but if this causes them to make wholesale changes, it might benefit them in the long term.

 

It would be very interesting if Denmark have to play Sweden in one of the play-off matches, and Croatia play Greece. The latter could be a tad explosive, so want to bet neither Croatia nor Italy land Greece in the play-offs.

 

Was just about to question why Russia were in Pot 1
Surprised to see Poland as high as 6th though.

 

So gutted about that. would have been amazing to take my boys to an NZ ARG thrashing I'll take them to Peru game anyway but not the same really.

 

We got the draw we wanted today. Still have the Danes as slight favourites but we've nothing to fear! Sadly won't make Copenhagen due to other people being on holiday at work
