It's ok to say what you mean you know. Has it surprised you what others have said?

Absofuckinglutely, and it also leaves me wondering if the statements in the notes are one of the main reasons that they've taken four years to be laid bare on this forum. Whether people like it or not I'm afraid that some of the stuff in the notes has me reaching for the sick bag.

I can't get my head around why it wasn't just about not changing the name. What's all this crap about fan ownership. 50% owned by fans, how?? The **** could any set of fans raise that.
A unique model etc etc. we're they there to pitch at dragons den??
I can see the haste to get set up as a supporters trust now.
I remember someone on here saying a trust shouldn't be set up out,of a protest group.
Anyone else think AA saw the greed in some of their eyes?

The amusing thing is that some appear to have been played by Assem, and have turned quite bitter as a result.

Except not a single one of them remained involved with the Supporters' Trust. Almost as if they were just doing it to stand up for what they believe in and knew full well there was no chance of any personal gain.

Strange how a game that is basically getting a bag of air between some sticks can cause so much hassle isn't it ??

I think it was generally accepted at the time that it was necessary to make a bit of a show of reverence to the Doctor whilst also trying to make him understand the reason for being so irked by the name-change, and ultimately get him to change his mind. Comes across false and condescending in the notes to be honest at times, and maybe it really was from some of the attendees, but I think in general it was a necessary thing to do.

The tone is difficult to get right, and at times it isn't, in my opinion.

Definitely some of the more vocal members of the group at the time made it obvious that they harboured other ambitions as well - 'C.Cooper' who is Exiled from CI if I'm not mistaken - he would quite often talk of lofty plans on there. He'd got that idea of fan ownership in his head and I think the majority of City fans had no interest in that - it was name-change only. Certainly was for me.

I think he used to come across badly on CI most of the time for all sorts of reasons, and the notes here show him to be a really slimy ****, frankly.

Overall a valiant and necessary effort by most of these lads to turn the name-change around in the early days, unsuccessful in the end which is unfortunate, and some people who came across as bellends on forums anyway coming across as bellends in the minutes.

The most important lesson learned being that the Allams are not likely to change their minds on anything, in fact faced with opposition they dig their heels in, and we all know better now.

The fan ownership came about because Assem Allam said, publicly I think, he wanted to give a majority stake in the club to the fans.

Sorry Chazz there was no rush to set up a Supporters Trust. The Tigers Trust existed and could have stepped up if there was a serious offer of fan ownership.

I think some people heard Assem Allam was altruistic and believed what he said. Shortly afterwards all bridges were burnt and CTWD concentrated on opposing the name change.

As far as I was concerned the meeting and notes played a major part in how our campaign developed. We had tested the water and seen exactly what Assem Allam was made of. Without that meeting our campaign would have been significantly weaker and the support for Assem Allam and Hull Tigers stronger.

Supporters' Trusts are almost always born out of protest groups.

Allam didn't see anything other than his own misguided opinion, he made some assurances at the meeting, but swiftly reneged on all of them and quite obviously hadn't really listened to anything that had been said.

Coops proposed an alternative business model that didn't involve changing the name, as has been well documented, he's big into fan ownership of sports clubs.

Suggestions that we all rocked up because we thought we might end up owning Hull City are utterly ridiculous.
