I do think this is a bit unfair. It's four and a half years since Johnny Yen's thread on AN made me aware of what might be happening with the name change. I wrote to Assem Allam at the time and the letter is quite embarrassing with hindsight. I referred to him as “Doctor Allam” and thanked him profusely for everything he had done at the club. True, the penny hadn't dropped at the time quite how ill informed, deceptive, egotistical and hate filled Mr Allam was but there was another factor: that when you are seeking to influence someone, you try to get on their wavelength and don't let any issues you're not that bothered about get in the way e.g. the nonsense of honorary doctorates. I don't see the attitudes taken by attendees at the meeting as hypocritical or toadying in any way. It's exactly what they needed to do: i.e. acknowledge the position of power which Mr Allam occupied, try to engender trust, avoid confrontation but set out calmly and firmly to assert their position when appropriate and possible. It's a negotiating approach which can work with even very prickly characters but probably wouldn't have been adopted with any optimism if we had known then what we know now.
All well and good Shropshire, but if it doesn't fit certain people's agenda (they know who they are) you're wasting your time.
Sorry didn't read that. I think this is more to do with a certain Allam Apologist trying to claim some sort of victory/ Higher ground. Move on peeps.!!
Bits like replying to the bit about the Spaniard Nasri coming here as the most exciting project in football To be honest I'm probably judging it all by my sarcastic yardstick I can imagine myself saying most of it while rolling my eyes! Probably wrong though...it was different times
See, the thing is, I haven't agreed with the actions of the Allams for some time, yet still get referred to on here by some of the hard of thinking as an Allam Apologist. Sure, I refuse to join in with the mob baying for blood, and yes I quite often point out the others involved in ****ty decisions, like HCC, but no, I haven't defended the Allams in ages. I made my feelings against the membership scheme very clear, despite it potentially being a personal gain for me. I don't like Ehab as much as anyone. I also dislike hypocrisy, and am not one of the little clique of superfans fanboys either. That's enough to get called an apologist. By people referring to Assem as Dr, and who spent meetings blowing smoke up his arse and giving him assurances they'd support him. At least throughout the whole sad episode, I have been honest and up front, and acted with integrity. Not that something a certain group on here can claim, and they REALLY don't like being challenged, questioned or called out on their shoddy behavior. I'm sure some of those in attendance were there for the right reasons, but some sure as ****e were there for their own personal aims and ambitions. The fact it's taken this long for these frankly comedy notes to appear, despite constant requests for them, and despite everything that's happened since to blow out of the water any chance of reconciliation speaks volumes on those characters. Ironically, or not, they're the ones squealing the loudest when it's pointed out how many character and personality traits they share with Assem.
You're as big a whiner, hypocrite, etc as the next person. People just forget that they do it themselves. Don't pretend you don't take personal delight in arguing with posters on here because everyone can see that you can. I don't know why I'm even writing this to be honest I already know what the reply will be, or won't be.
Papa Doc is a nutter and no one tells him how to run his business. Why doesn't he **** off and take his son with him?
I have to say that on reading the notes they were, to say the least, revealing, and not in a way that I'd imagined they would be. People eh. As I always say, give me a dog over a person every day of the week, what you see is what you get, people on the other hand...
