Okay folks, do not shoot the messenger – but this has to be the most unoriginal tip ever. Had a text from a mate of mine who knows nobody in Ireland: the Munster National (Limerick 4:25) – Total Recall (not run since February but the favourite; Mullins and Walsh).
Fancy Rock on Fruity to go close for shrewdy Byrnes in the Munster National, races off nice weight with claimer on board; money for it already.Skybet paying five places so went Ew at 10s.
****e day yesterday for me so i'll not be having a bet today so i'll have one of Ron's virtual punts and go for Tulsa Jack 22/1 ew in the Munster National
Love these National slogs though this one at only 3 miles is hardly a marathon trip. Rock On Fruity would appear to be carrying the JP money. My considerably smaller ew wager is Phil's Magic @16/1. Also a nice weight and in fine form having already prevailed in a 'National' in July. A decent 2 mile chase on offer at Kelso with Simply Ned being my pick having run well in this on his seasonal bow last year. Meets the winner on much more favourable terms this time round. Also interested to see how The Twisler gets on over hurdles for the first time at Uttoxeter having been decent on the level. Good luck anyone having a punt.
Yesterday's neck second with Solomon Grey at Fontwell was a bit tough, but that's racing. Yes, Chaninbar, I find the Munster National at Limerick (16:25) an interesting marathon too. Think I'll have a modest bet on Auvergnat (best price 13/2 at time of writing) who might well run a big race.
Not particularly keen on much today but couldn't leave it unsaid that some of the riding I've seen this weekend has been Abysmal with a capital A. Martin Lane I am looking squarely at you.
Good day yesterday and thanks for all the suggestions. Today at Limerick 3.20 Irish Bulletin is 15/2 from 14/1, has figures that hardly scream winner! But has won 4-6 at the course. Worth a little nibble i think. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Today's darts are on the following: Ellison possibly with a treble with NEWSTART, BAL DE RIO and FOREST BIHAN. BDR is my main bet today. At Uttoxeter I like SPORTING BOY and MIAMI PRESENT with MP being my next best bet and I also fancy the double for Ruby on FABULOUS SAGA and CHILDRENS LIST.
Slightly off putting that Beefy has not said Fabulous Saga is a cert and that Joseph Obriens is being backed, seem to remember him talking this one up before Cheltenham last year. Might have to watch jump replays in October
RANT MODE ON I know somebody that works in Malton quite a lot and knows a few of the jockeys. Last night I got a text as he had spoken to Danny Tudhope’s dad and they really fancied Suedois in the 10:45 at Keeneland and it was 10/1 with Hills. So I went in Hills and they were covering Belmont, Gulfstream and Keeneland; however, they were just doing Show Prices as and when each race ran, so I put the bet on expecting to get industry SP if it won. I saw on the Racing Post site that Suedois had won, paying $10.70 on the local tote but I knew that I would not get that. On the Sporting Life results service, they gave the SP as 8/1. So when I went in Hills to collect, that was what I expected to get; however, I got paid at 6/1 because the manager said that was their last Show Price. Apparently, I should have taken a price – although I fail to see how I could have done so given that they close three-quarters of an hour before the race ran and I put the bet on three hours earlier! Note to self: never bet on American racing again with Hills. RANT MODE OFF
I can't name names as I don't watch races with a view to "black marking" riders but if I were betting I certainly would. Some of these jockeys can't ride and could cause pain to the horse they are on. Surprised some of them get a licence and even more surprised that owners let them on their horses. They probably have no idea how bad the jockey is.
I never use bill hills for American racing they've always been thieves only recently have they offered show prices in the shops ladcrooks are better in my opinion
Just wondering why you don't bet online, rather than trudging to the betting shops which are usually dumps and have worse prices than online (mostly)?
Looking forward to seeing Forest Bihan here, he had some smart novice form which ties in with what would definitely be one of my horses to follow this winter - Waiting Patiently.
Excellent performance from Forest Bihan to take that competitive handicap off 154. He was somewhat unlucky in the Arkle, hitting 3 out pretty hard which finished his challenge. They will have to step back up to graded races with him now.
