The arbiters of all that is patriotic in this country, The Sun, have admitted liability for the remarkably patriotic act of hacking into the e-mail account of a dead British army intelligence officer. Remember this come November when they devote the front page to harassing anyone who exercises their right to not wear a poppy.
I lasted 3 minutes and then developed homicidal tendencies towards her!!! The constant denial of the evidentially obvious reminds me of the Fast Show MP, Sir Geoffrey Norman!! But this really isn't a laughing matter, as this generic attitude is very pervasive across large swathes of the US and influences much Right wing government policy. Apologies for crossing threads, but It's symptomatic of the ****e that is spouted by morons about the 'right to bear arms' - a 2nd Amendment right that was formulated more than 200 years ago and has no relevance to the concept of, say, a deranged nutter being legally able to purchase and carry an arsenal large enough to take down a small country! (Ironically, I didn't previously realise that the US adopted this legislation from the Common Law 'English Bill of Rights' (1689) - and we managed to jettison it to the dustbin of history more than 180 years ago! Heaven help us all
"Where's the evidence?" "Here's the evidence. Here's some more and here's even more, too." "Yes, but where's the evidence? Crea-TOR."
You mean to tell me that creatures evolved from out of the sea to,millions of years later, become Donald Trump? Who would have thought? I've often wondered how man has all those incredible parts of his/her body to keep him alive.A heart.blood,veins,intestines,lungs,eyes,ears..ertc. How could this JUST happen......? We are a miracle......shame many became Arsenal supporters.Brain function I suppose!
US impose a 220% tariff on Bombadier planes? No - make that 300%!! Further tariff of 80% imposed on import of C-Series plane http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-41532309 Good to see that those Post-Brexit trade negotiations with the US are bearing fruit!! But in other news to keep your spirits up, try and catch the latest 'Last Week Tonight' programme with John Oliver (Season 4 Episode 25). Hilarious and anger-inducing (with Trump and friends) in equal measure. Sorry, but no links available....
I would be interested in knowing if our government apply any sort of prohibitive tariffs on anyone's imports, perhaps because of unfair competition (chinese steel anyone?) Because all this "free trade" is fine and dandy in theory, but (1) not when you seem to be the only country operating it and (2) it appears that these neo liberals think it's the answer to everything when none of the great powerhouse economies got where they are today by using it. We all got rich on very unfair trade! Economists don't seem to be very strong on history.
Private Eye covered this in the last edition - and it makes for interesting reading: Basically, the MOD has invested billions in Boeing defence technology - and the company effectively own the programming codes. Guess what? If the UK come on hard against Boeing, we lose control of vast swathes of our defence infrastructure!! Worth a read as I may have paraphrased somewhat.
Boo-****ing-hoo, Dumpf!! Donald Trump's Scottish golf resorts suffer losses of $23m http://www.independent.ie/world-new...lf-resorts-suffer-losses-of-23m-36206032.html
You're probably right.....but does at least provide ongoing evidence of his 'legitimate' business incompetence
That's not incompetence, that's crass inhumanity wrapped up in a ball of ignorance. But whatever it is, the world would be a better and safer place if he wasn't in it!
The world's self styled greatest democracy seems to offer its highest office to only those with enough money to buy their way into it - without setting any criteria for their suitability. Is it surprising that in this day and age they finish up with an egomaniacal sociopath with no political experience?
Pretty sure we can’t impose tariffs as we have to trade under EU rules. Any tariffs would have to be agreed in Brussels. It’s against EU treaties for us to impose our own trade tariffs and deals. As for the US, I don’t believe the EU actually has a trade deal with America yet. The controversial TTIP deal was on the table but has hit many issues. So as far as us imposing tariffs on US goods, I can imagine it’s a grey area that we daren't explore to avoid upsetting Brussels.
Nothing to do with the EU exit stuff. What you are seeing is classic USA corporate lobbying. Boeing have cried wolf on state aid to Bombardier, and demanded penalty tariffs. They have then probably gone to get a court ruling in a regional state most sympathetic to / likely to rule for their claim. *** Getting such a ruling usually means additional penalties granted. Boeing are a very big fish as far as claims like this go (in the tech sector it would be the Apples/Googles/Qualcomms) . *** This is how USA companies in the tech sector behave when trying to fight overseas competitors on things such as IPR disputes. Get your case heard in state X. If state X rules against your claim, then try and get another hearing in state Y etc.
No - not directly I accept. The core issue is the complaint made by Boeing against anti-competitive behaviour favouring Canadian company Bombardier. However, the implications of the US decision cannot be underestimated as far as the economy of NI is concerned and IF the UK actually has any influence with the US Administration is concerned, then they should be fighting this one. As I mentioned earlier, that won't happen anyway as Boeing have a potentially terminal grip around the neck of Britain's defence technology and we cannot afford to fight them. But the whole mess underlines exactly how unimportant the UK is in the bigger scheme of things!
