They hate us, the council and the fair , remember their plans to develop the land. Their simple gate has annoyed all three other parties.

But we can at least take comfort from the fact they've been forced to back down for these few days. It's not often they're actually stopped from getting their own way but it's sweet when they are. I'm sure it'll get more often too. They've gone way beyond City fans, football bodies and even the local community: they're causing trouble for the emergency services. You listen to the council and they're not even diplomatic about it any more. They're obviously just completely sick of having to deal with these thoroughly troublesome people. They think they're invincible and until recently it's seemed to be the case.

Are you Philys in disguise? It's not about who pays for a bloke or woman to stand there and look after the walkway whilst the gate is open (and fight of any incoming terrorist) The SMC statment is wanting the HCC to be responsible for and cover any additional costs should anything occur in around or to the stadium.

    SMC Statement
    Published 07 October 2017

Joint statement by SMC and Humberside Police regarding a Security Gate across the Argyle Street Access point (“the Argyle Street Access”) to the KCOM Stadium

SMC have informed Humberside Police, that following Hull City Council having late this evening provided SMC with a satisfactory indemnity in respect of persons passing to and from the Argyle Street Access to and from Hull Fair during the 2017 Hull Fair period across the Stadium land leased to SMC by Hull City Council, as a gesture of goodwill by SMC, the Security Gate will be open during the following hours of the remaining Hull Fair Period:

    Saturday 7 October 2017 930pm - midnight

    Sunday 8 October 2017. Closed

    Monday 9 October - Friday 13 October 2017. 4pm - midnight

    Saturday 14 October 2017 2pm - midnight.

The SMC land will, with SMC’s agreement, be policed during these hours by the multi-agency team, who are carrying out these roles as part of the wider Hull Fair event.

SMC have confirmed that the Security Gate will remain closed at all other times.

So the Council say they haven't caved in to Allams' demands and the SMC say they have. I wonder which one is right, or will it be that grey area where they both claim they are right. Whichever way it is its definitely a mess of the Allams making.

We'll just have to wait and see if Brady has the balls to use Section 26 of the Highway Act 1980 to designate it a public footpath,

As HCC is the freeholder it would not be difficult. There could be objections but this site compares with many business and industrial parks in the country. The only element is if it is in the public interest for it to be designated. The application for community asset status needs revisiting before its five years old. With the combination of access to a Heritage Park and a community asset, the only part that would need clearing up is the adoption of the paved areas and HCC taking responsibility for their maintenance and upkeep.

I think the events of the last few days shows why it should be a public footpath.

In a normal world there would be co-operation between the freeholder and the leaseholder. However we unfortunately don't live in that world. The leaseholder has accepted public access on the paved areas for the past 15 years. The Council through its profit sharing agreement has effectively contributed to the maintenance and upkeep of the paved areas around the stadium. Interesting times indeed.

No idea can the council just do this obi?
What u mean imp? Does that have an impact on it?
I think in that normal world there is often a lot of friction between the freeholder and leaseholders.
