Simple Saturday competition for anyone who wants to join in

Rules: Select one horse in each televised race (see below)
Choose one race for your nap selection

Your selection will be deemed to be a "win bet"
However, you may choose for any of your selections to go ew - if so please specify "ew"

Points will be gained based on the return to a £2 win at SP or a £1 ew at SP as applicable (Place odds are 1/4 odds 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th depending on the number of runners)

The nap selection will score double points

NRs may be replaced at any time before the race start time. In the absence of a replacement the NR will be replaced by the fav (in the event of joint/co favs the one with the lowest race card no).

In the event of dead heats the Rules here will apply

NB Please do not edit selections. Any changes to be made by replying to original post. Thanks

Might actually venture down the bookies to weigh my nap down with my money as I do not recall Moore being booked for many by Fahey... hoping that we have a dry week before Future Champions Day next week.

Ron would you consider running this comp as a league like cyc used to? Would maybe make it a bit more fun and might tempt a few more into taking part. Seems to me to bea bit pointless as it stands. If I'm on my own with this way of thinking then I'll just keep me mouth shut and carry on regardless

Good shout this but how much work would have to go in to it?

I had all placed and won part of the scoop6 place fund today and still didn't figure!

I don't mind how we change the format as long as people enjoy the comp. The admin isn't a problem for me because it will be completely automated. So any suggestions are welcome. I think if I ran it as a league I wouldn't feel too inclined to promote and relegate someone every week (although obviously I could if that was most popular). Maybe once a month? The number of leagues would depend on the number of entrants. At one point I thought about a true league format where all players competed against each as in a football league so, if there were 10 entrants, a season would be 18 weeks long if playing each other twice or 9 weeks long if playing each other once. The problem though is that it relies on every entrant playing every week which isn't feasible.

If I take all of the entries since 1st September (that's 6 Saturday's) 3 people entered every week. 7 missed 1 week (inc me) and 1 missed 2 weeks; and 6 others entered once. I'm not sure how successful it could be running it as a league when people miss weeks. If I base it on accumulated returns, I get a different table to if I base it on accumulated profit and a different table again if I base it on average weekly profit/ returns. The only consistency was that Doalittle would have won on any basis. The accumulated profit gives a fairer reflection of consistent betting I think but rightly or wrongly puts anyone who misses a week (or more) at a distinct disadvantage.

.. or in some cases, it could be an advantage.

As mentioned earlier, the competition is for the benefit of the forum so I am happy to run it in whichever format suits the most.

How about feeding me some ideas for an ongoing competition and we'll have a poll for the best idea?

I could produce league tables for each week the competition has been run and also for each month, based purely on returns, if it helps to see how it might look

    I could also do it Tote based (as Cyc did) and extend it to giving Tote returns for horses getting placed. So, for example;
One horse in every televised race. If it wins you get the Tote win return, if it gets placed you get the Tote place return

I thought the ITV races would be more interesting because it allows for everyone to watch their selections but, if preferred I could ditch the TV comp and allow 5/6 horses to be selected from any of the UK and Ireland races.

Until I get some views I'll just continue as is
