I remember when I used to get exited about World Cup qualifiers, but the state of our National team under Southgate is a fkg joke. We went through years of mediocrity under Woy and that didnt end well did it. We then did something positive by getting Big Sam but the media decided to stitch him up and forcing him out. (Hes actually taking the FA to court) Then the gobshyte sports media decide to go for Southgate. You can tell the media are behind this appointment because anyone else would be trashed by now, not 1 decent performance against even the lowest of minnows. That team is an embarrassment, and last nights performance was typical. Southgate and our biased sports media are killing our National game, assisted by the FA who are not fit for purpose, as the Sampson debacle clearly shows. Why Southgate and bloke who was garbage as a manager, was lucky to get the U21 job and did nothing with that, although to be fair the kids are now producing at U17, U20 level but with other coaches who have nothing to do with Southgate. Best English manager by far who deserved a chance was Dyche, followed by Howe as these guys are relevant managing teams in the Premiership on small budgets, and doing amazingly well. Southgateffs
England have been durge for decades. Haven't been arsed to get excited about national side since after 1990 WCup and 1996 Euros. Its just awful. FA and premier league to blame. No good managers will be attracted to the job. A managerial double act might be the answer.
You can't seriously think the main problem is the manager? (He may well be useless, btw, but who could get success from this shower?) The players are not good enough. The English has not produced enough players capable of competing for decades. Currently the whole Premier League set up mitigates against developing English talent. We can see this ourselves by looking at what has happened to the better young players we had - they went as bench warmers to prem clubs, they achieved little. In the past they'd have stayed, played regularly, helped us grow and developed themselves
Morning Doc I agree with your sentiments. I too suffered the garbage on Thursday night, but didn't expect anything different. Dyche would be interesting, not convinced about Howe. Southgate is a lightweight in my opinion no umph if you know what I mean. In many respects it's a pity we qualified.
20 so obviously Kanes shyte then, no Kane is in line for World Player of the Year alongside Messi, Ronaldo etc. We do have some class players like Ali just think about top prem teams who do actually play English players. No you are wrong, we have enough good English players but they follow tactics made by Southgate
Just looked at the squad & everyone there is a good player except maybe Sterling & Henderson. There is a lack of World class players, but that squad should have battered wvery team in our mini league. Southgate isnt the answer
I am fine & dandy, needed a laugh so posted something that made me laugh knowing how much coffee would be spat out on PCs Thought Id be having a holiday for a few days but looks like Matt bailed me out
You could have picked a decent looking bird and made a ban worthwhile.... Big forces protected you assuming you were pissed! Picture anyone who logged in at work and saw that. I bet a few browsing histories were hastily cleared.
We have the occasional player like Kane but we don't have enough who are good enough. You need a squad who are top class, we have a few who are plus a bunch of mediocre players who are hyped up so both they and fans think they are s new golden team. It's fantasy to imagine a different manager would turn turds into gold.
20 name your best 2 England managers, who got results from some mediocre players which had a couple of really good players in the team. Here are mine Venebles & Hoddle both got results played great footy both had to leave for non football reasons. FA shyte
Venables is the only name I'd have come up with. Though the best he did was losing in the euros. I don't think any manager has ever got results from a mediocre England squad. The England team that won the World Cup had Banks, Jack Charlton, Moore, Scum Charlton - 4 class players, plus most of the rest were very good
Agreed but when you think about the so called golden era. Beckam, Scholes, G Neville, Lampard, Terry, Gerrard, Owen. Never won fk all
Agree, my view is they were not golden Hence my comments about turds and gold Scholes was good maybe Terry, the others patchy
Genuine question (too young to know the answer) - were those players considered to be class BEFORE winning the WC? Or was it the WC win that gave them their reputations. Not looking to provoke anything - genuinely have no idea, but curious. Point I think I'm trying to make is if this England team did win the WC, would reputations be made that presently don't exist? Apologies if I've presented this in an awkward way (bit pissed in Ljubliana), but hope someone gets my drift.
