No Saints but Argentina are in major danger, they just drew 0-0 v Peru and need to win away in Ecuador next week.

    Fair point <laugh>

Russia is too soon money wise really and Turkey is higher on my list of countries to visit. Think any trouble in Turkey would be easier to avoid too.

Is that to qualify automatically or to secure a playoff spot? Does the 5th placed team in the South American group still play the play off team from Australasia? If so then Argentina should be fine.

Don't think anything major will happen in the big cities such as Moscow and St Peteesburg etc.

Could be a different story in the smaller cities though imo.

Oh God, he's absolutely terrible as a pundit. He was covering one of Wales' victories in Euro 16 - you'd think both his dog and his granny had died from his attitude. The bloke has no obvious personality. Please do keep him!

They need a win and then it depends on other results. Argentina are 6th on GD, Chile (3rd) and Paraguay (7th) separated by 2pts.

Good news Iceland fans, they're going to Russia as long as they beat last placed Kosovo.

And in even more obscure international football/soccer, USA really need to beat Panama tonight, or that play off v Syria becomes a lot more likely.

Yeah, but at least Long scared the **** out of the defender just as the blind assassin missed the open goal...

I am glad Shane couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo for Ireland as well as us
He seems to blamed lack of regular game time for his consistently poor finishing but he has had a lot of starting time for both us and Ireland and yet he hasn't scored for 24 games, I think describing him as a striker could get us in danger of falling foul of the trades descriptions act. He is more of a very busy player than a striker

Yeah, just read the BBC report on the Rep Ireland game. Shane <doh> in some weird way I really feel for him but tbh he's always needed 3x clear cut chances to score a goal & now he's on a "barren run" <laugh>

One goal in his last 42 games for club and country.

Since Shane last scored, Harry Kane has scored 36 times. :emoticon-0111-blush

I can't remember us creating many clear cut chances for him in that whole time though. Maybe one or two headers that he should have done better with? Am I forgetting any big misses?

In any case, surely we have to look at dropping long and fixingthe system. Long is the answer to the wrong problem.
