But isn't it refreshing, that the national rags, are reporting a Saints in transfer, and not their usual drivel, of VVD etc leaving!
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/862807/Arsenal-Theo-Walcott-Southampton I'd take him back if he wants to come and is willing to take a wage drop. He can score goals!
I have now read it, in the sun, express and daily mail. Yeah I know they are rags, but hey, "There's no smoke without fire" lol
And that's the exact problem we need. No disrespect to JWP or SD but get that & we'll be a significant step forward.
Yes yes yes. That's my intelligent argument. Have any of you seen saints play for the last year or so? We're talking about an attacking player that score goals. And HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN.....
Funnily enough have just come on here to do one of my very, very rare ITK posts and seen it was posted already. Have it on relatively decent authority that this is genuinely a thing.
A yes from me if we could address the salary issue. Put Tadic on the left and Theo on the right. He is one of our own and apparently has feelings for Saints. No-brainer.
Without naming the source too directly can you give some sort of idea of their position and why it's credible etc.? Edit: If you are right then who votes for @Archers Road to eat his own arse at the Farmhouse before a home match?
Quick question. Do people really think he is *that* much better than what we have? I mean yeah, he would clearly get in our first team at present but I don't think he would massively make a difference to our goalscoring issues. He might help us in games where we play on the break but otherwise to me he's just a much (currently) better version of Redmond. Except Walcott is at his ceiling and is likely to never improve, Redmond has the potential to be just as good as him in years to come and Walcott would likely command double the wages. People can point to his goals/assist record over the last few years (when fit) which is fair enough, but that's in an Arsenal side that create a lot of chances. Here I feel that he would just be another quick winger who constantly runs into dead ends... unless we can sign the number 10 we're screaming out for. At the end of the day, while he would undoubtedly improve us to a certain degree... he wouldn't make enough of an impact to justify being one of our top earners imo.
To be honest, no. He is possibly a bit better, but where is your romantic side. About time someone came "home." I want a number 10, but I don't think it is a case of signing one but more changing how we do things at the same time.
I have feelings for Saints, I'm available, cheaper than Theo and often called a no-brainer ... Where do I sign?
Agree that it would be nice for someone to 'come home' but we shouldn't let sentiment be the deciding factor if it doesn't logically make sense. On your second paragraph I agree that that is what we have to do for the time being, but if we're to make a marquee signing on high wages then I would rather it be on that sort of player than a Walcott type.
1) He is better than when he left. 2) He is better than what we have. 3) He would have to take a wage cut and still break our wage structure. 4) Maybe our wage structure needs shaking up a bit. 5) His links to us and love for us would help with 3. 6) His wife's links to the city would help too. 7) He did enough last season to show he is a worthwhile addition. 8) I think this move is exactly what he would need to reinvigorate his career and he's young enough to get back into the England squad. 9)He would give the team and fans a huge lift. 10) Yay I made it to 10, now go on Les make it happen!
