Everyone knows that other countries only want to watch clubs like United, Chelsea and Liverpool. It's why they're on the box 30 times a season.

But distributing the money "fairly" will mean the PL will almost instantly lose it's greatest selling point.... the fact clubs like Burnley can go away to the Champions and win, a club like Leicester can win the league, a club like Bournemouth can get a top ten finish... it's magic.

The top 6 are driving this and it's obviously in their short term interests to do so. I've read that 3 or 4 other clubs are there to be swayed over to the proposal. Presumably, they see themselves profiting from finishing in the top half of the table more often than not.

The big 6 need 8 other clubs to vote with them to get this through. Why would the majority of the 'turkeys' vote for Christmas? Mainly because the people driving this are threatening to take their ball away and withdraw from collective bargaining altogether and selling their own TV rights. I'm not sure what the remaing clubs would get for theirs but the days of Crystal Palace and Bournemouth paying players £100k a week won't be seen again.

What's the Premier League going to do? They've already waved the white flag. They're working for the big fish because without them, they've got **** all to run. Any impression that the Premier League were in charge of anything is an illusion. They do as they're told. They created a monster that they can't control........but don't worry.......just keep counting the cash, boys.

The supporters of all the other clubs cancelling their subscription would do the trick.
    Not gonna happen though.

The top six might as well **** off along with Real Madrid, Barca and a few others and form a Super League with games in Shanghai and Dubai as that's what they want really.

It would be thanks for the memories and I'd stop watching if that happened.

I wouldn't mind too much if that happened.

The whole 'matchday experience' is better in the lower leagues anyway. And some of the football, including in league one, is actually pretty good.

Still don't think a super league will happen, much more likely that the big clubs will just negotiate their own rights.

Don't think this will get through either. Even with West Ham, Everton and Leicester in favour they still need another 5 clubs which I don't see happening.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to persuade Stoke, West Brom, Saints and Newcastle aswell, but beyond those I can't see anyone else obvious.

Because if it means league place = bigger cut of TV money then you write off the top 6 and means that any established PL team (of which Saints are one now) will be significantly more loaded than teams coming up who get a much smaller piece of the pie. Means that the middling clubs can battle it out in their mini league of 7th-14/15th without really being worried about going down, unless they make a huge **** up. Keeps PL prize money/crowds/TV deal (all be it smaller than now) at the club but with much less risk of getting relegated.

I may have interpreted the proposal of how the money is distributed wrongly though.

Sorry my bad, I must have imagined her selling Shaw, Lallana, Mane and the rest.

Saints could be mixing it with the likes of Spurs if they refused to sell their top players but instead she's just happy to be an alsoran.

More money to the likes of her doesn't matter to me, sorry.

You say refused to sell the top players, how would you propose we pay these players similar money to what they're being offered elsewhere?

Our club is run sustainabily these days - thankfully - administration was less than a decade ago.

Of course we could just chuck stupid money we don't have at it and end up on the brink of oblivion like the blue few down the road... No thanks.

On the subject of them actually that was a clear example of asset stripping... She clearly didn't do that here. You don't invest into the infrastructure of a business your planning to asset strip.

I'm pretty sure we'd end up with less for finishing 8th under these proposals than we did last year. Too hungover to do the maths though.

You are probably right, but my point was that whilst we earnt more finishing 8th last year, we were only what like 7 points off relegation because the money is distributed equally. If it wasn't distributed equally we would have far less worry about going down as the lower teams would have much smaller budgets. So even if it is less, it might be less for a much longer period of time compared to more for a shorter period (when we do eventually go down under the current system).

I'm not in favour of the new TV stuff btw, just can see why it would be attractive to a board at a middling PL club.

We didn't have much of a choice with most of these players. We couldn't afford the wages they wanted, and the offers we were making them they were refusing. So it was either sell and reinvest (which is what Saints have always done) or let them run their contracts down and leave for nothing. When they have time left on their deals Saints do have history of sticking to their guns and not selling them (Van Dijk, Schneiderlin, Mane)

You should probably worry about your own club pal. Weren't you all wearing Norwich City scarves a few seasons ago, in protest against the Glazers?

Not all of us no, I've never owned one. Why should I worry about my club, bear in mind I worry about very few things in life in general?
