Not sure where you are comming from here -he's slow now and bit erratic but he was way past his best when we signed him over a decade ago. His organisational skills are exceptional and his football experience stands out. Infact good football management qualities - He's a steadying influence to our defence imo.
I'm coming from the fact that he's been absolutely ****ing atrocious from the moment he has signed for us. He's been a major drain on our wage bill and given us **** all back. He's slow. He makes bad decisions. He's error prone. He's been below par since he's signed. Delighted you're content with that kind of horseshit football. I'd rather we signed someone who could play football as well as waving his arms around and telling other defenders what to do while he's busy doing sweet **** all. A steadying influence on what has been an absolutely horrendous defence for the past five years. Wes Brown was handy for us, albeit inconsistently, John O'Shea has been consistently awful. That's where I'm coming from.
Shows how different opinions can be - I personally think he's been good at times - there have been times that he's been such a calming influence - everyone around me slates him for his "passing" - he can defend, he reads the game well and he breeds calmness IMO
I think he's a liability. The only time in the last few years our centre back pairing has looked less than disastrous was Kaboul and Kone. Also. As for him being manager. He's been a constant in one of the worst periods of uncertainty we've had in years. I'd just move on personally. Start afresh. Rewarding failure isn't a great way to run a business.
Like I say - opinions - I don't think he's been the reason for the failure by any stretch. Kaboul replaced O'Shea iirc and was just a better footballer (no doubt about that) but O'Shea was doing OK at central defence and then became a bit-part player. I like him personally and said last season that I hope he goes on to be one of our coaches. Obviously not manager (yet) but you never know
I'm on the fence about it because we have no idea how good or bad he'd be as a manager. Don't think he's been very good for us on the pitch but that has no bearing on his managerial ability. Great players do not make great managers.
If you are going to try and be a smartarse, start with the basics, like getting your facts right. Basic homework or you end up looking like a twat.
Please no. Wasnt he part of the clique that mutinied against PDC? Should have got shot of the lot of them then. Plus O'****e looks like paddy mcguiness.
How good was Sir Alex as a player? or Jose? How many say" Get Phillips in - he'll be a great manager" based seemingly solely on the fact that he was a class player for us! How good was Shearer for the mags?
Fitstly to make it plain of course I'm not happy with our teams performances but JOS was almost over the hill when we signed him. I think he copes with his lack of pace well and offers experienced direction to other players. I don't think he has been as poor as you feel. But he is a steadying influence and organiser which are good management qualities. His playing days are virtually over but sadly he's one of our best CH's. We need good younger pacier CH's asap. I think we are on that
So the story goes about the mutiny - disgraceful think Cats was involved. Sadly the club did'nt sort the issue out but I still think JOS has management potential.
He's probably coming from the real world where JoS has been ****e for the last 3 seasons. He's always been poor but those last 3 years in the prem he's just been worse than ****.
Good at times? Our captain and centre back and you're happy with good at times? has 222 games for us(Won 48). I prefer to focus on his form rather than isolated games he's done well. He's **** and his figures are ****. Played well at the weekend but that doesn't magically make up for the sheer ****ness of him
Bad players make good coaches. Good coaches make bad players. Very fair. That said. If a bloke fails miserably for years you don't then promote him into a more important job altogether when he has shown **** all to suggest he can do it. He needs to start at a club other than ours, with less pressure and a better owner.
