I'm not suggesting for a moment that they'll actually see sense. My sarcasm is obviously getting a little thin. Just wondering how long they can remain stupid. But we know the answer to that.
https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/l...casino-stocks-are-n806721?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma Gun stocks rise in US. 'Following a mass shooting, traders buy up shares in gun companies in anticipation of fearful citizens stocking up on firearms to defend themselves.' I know they are just doing their jobs but making money out of this is just plain wrong. I would love it it if the Americans suddenly decided en masse to down their arms saying enough is enough so the traders lose all the money.......I can dream I suppose.
Shocking, shocking incident. RIP to the victims. Oh and the CBS lawyer who said that she had no sympathy for the victims because most of them are Republican can go **** herself.
http://news.sky.com/story/deposit-r...anned-in-england-11064696?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter As someone who is always picking up bottles when walking the dog I hope this makes a difference.....or course I may just make a few quid instead. Anyone else remember supplementing their pocket money by returning found glass bottles for the deposit?
Tom Petty has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 66. Another legend gone. Here's one of his best-loved songs: RIP Tom
Am shocked and saddened, but so glad I saw him in London this summer before he died. I grew up listening to Tom Petty's music so I actually feel I've lost a part of my life. Tragic that he died so young. My go to Tom Petty track
Dave Swarbrick, the legendary folk musician, had his obituary published in the Daily Telegraph in 1999, 17 years before he actually died..
This pisses me off. United in their thoughts and prayers. Not united in trying to at least change anything. Standing with the victims does not mean offering them condolences and then continuing as nothing changes. Can't they trial something to the effect of reducing amount of guns..?
We were saying the same. Reduce the amount of guns you can own to say 5 (5 too many but you've got to start somewhere) and make it illegal to own anything other than a handgun or normal rifle. Nothing rapid fire. This would at least be a start. Ideally I, obviously, would want to go further but there is just no way Americans would go for that.
Trump said before that he wanted to overturn laws about not being able to be armed in schools/hospitals/places of worship. Hs reasoning was that this is the place sickos want to target so people needed to be armed to defend themselves. I can't see much changing regarding guns over there, they may bring something in about automatic weapons.
Yes, think how often praying about anything has ever helped anyone but the person praying? Oh, and condolences will be welcomed by people whose loved ones have been mindlessly slaughtered. Whereas changing the law even just a little bit to make it harder to get a gun has been shown to reduce gun crime (e.g. in Connecticut - though a Republican congressman is trying to get those restrictions rolled back, of course: https://patch.com/connecticut/green...ol-laws-may-soon-be-lifted-federal-government).
