One to look out for. @RyanMason Looking forward to my debut on #theDebate tonight with David Prutton & @ollieholt22 on Sky Sports. 10pm @skysportspl For anybody interested in watching. I imagine they'll talk about Mason's injury for some part.
Great to hear him say he's in a positive way and the next stage is more contact, bit worried how he mentioned heading the ball next though. Not expecting him back until earliest of next season unless we have a token game at the end of this season and the doctors give him the ok.
I think for Ryan the toughest part will be psychological. I know it was when I broke my ankle playing football and that's not even a patch on what he's been through. Always at the back of your mind.
Got to hand it to the lad for wanting to carry on .. I have to be honest if 1 specialist had told me to cease playing that's exactly what I'd have done .. fingers crossed there are no problems.
Exactly. It's a difficult dilemma to overcome psychologically. I noticed it after I broke my leg after I returned a year later that I was subconsciously backing out of tackles to protect myself - if you don't go in hard, you're more vulnerable & are exposed to further injury. I ended up retiring after the end of that season as I wasn't feeling I was contributing enough. Mind you, I was turned 60, so probably not missed that much !
I cannot stand that prick prutton, yes he had us down for a 1-0 loss to brum but instead of saying he got it wrong or even that city played well, the arrogant twat was going on about how bab brum was, yes the ****er had a point... BUT !! To say that's the only reason City stuffed um was just ****ing wrong.... nob ed !!!! Face you just would punch....
Could totally understand mason not wanting to challenge for a header , but I think he would struggle to get another contract after us , imagine in a relegation / promotion decider , him not going for a header and it costing a club millions , even tho it would be justified from Masons point of view , a chairman wouldn't see it like that . If I was him I'd just take whatever money he can out of his city contract and find something else to do .
Saw an article the other day about Kevin Doyle, playing in the US now. He's retired at 34 cos of concussion too many times. It's going to get more prevalent and will ryan be able to get insurance to play?? Not sure he will.
Petr Cech has always come across as a decent bloke, this just solidifies it. Will have to give that interview a listen (even if Jim White is a bit of a twat). Cech is probably the best person Ryan can talk to.
