don't know. really don't I would hope its doing what he is told as per moreno. he should be livid if not. He should be throwing things by now.
I dunno. I'm no tactician - I just don't think we need every man and his dog attacking all the time to be an attacking team.
Totally agree, whatever the formation, that playing Mane, Salah, Ford AND Firmino is a luxury. And you can throw Lala into that when he comes back, and don't forget Studge and Solanke too. Any team will look good going forward if they play four no 10's, and if you add two midfielders who don't like to defend as well, then even Keegan's 1996 Newcastle sort of look like an Inter team of the 60's. It's a delusional conceit to fool ourselves that this approach is real football, because it's more like exhibition football when nothing is at stake. All that said, we just don't have enough quality defenders to address it atm.
My take on this is still the same one i held last year that our main problem is a systemic one rather than individual. The fact that no one is surprised (****ing furious yes but not surprised) that they scored via a long ball to a sole forward is the telling factor.I see no reason to suppose the players are not in the main doing what they were instructed to do or else they would be dropped. If we are going to play the front 4 we need Coutinho to play as an advanced central midfielder with 2 others sitting behind. If the front 4 with say 1 FB & 1 other MF cannot score i very much doubt they will with 2 of each . One other effect of not pushing so many forward is we may find it affords our attackers more room to play in. anyway that is my sleep deprived take on it . tomorrows lecture will focus on possibly the most ridiculous transfer window i can remember.
This more or less sums up what I've taken several posts to say. Too many glory-seekers and not enough grafters.
So at the end of last season LFC switched formation and personel. We managed to keep a few clean sheets and win ugly. One player was key to this...Lucas. He was our only specialist DM and after selling him we never bothered to replace him. We bought another player with no positional sense in OX. Even though his pace was gone he managed to hold his position and made us tough to beat. It's a high time our recruitment is looked at and Klopp is as responsible as Edwards. When Lallana and Clyne are fit we will still require a DM but will still be open down the middle
I'm not so sure that just buying the players like VvD and Matic would work. Klopp clearly likes his midfielders.....all of them....to press high up the pitch and support attacks in advanced roles. Sticking Matic in there will solve nothing if he wants him to do the same, one ball past our midfield and our CB's are exposed...albeit with VvD, there's a bit more of a presence, they're still exposed. Nope, for me the real problem is system. But who you want in midfield or defence but if your forwards lose or give away the ball cheaply, you're in trouble regardless of personnel! I'm not saying it can't work btw. City are a great example of how it can work....but you're talking a totally different quality of player tbh....
Can was the one who was instrumental in getting us top 4 at the back end of the season. He was holding mid whilst Hendo was out
With all due respect Jimmy, balls. Stop going off FIFA17 and watch the game, Lambo is right Lucas stopped much of the opposition play getting to the defenders Can was just Can and still is.
