No offence fella but you just a few posts back thought I claimed remainers were entitled to another referendum when I said nothing of the sort. Maybe read posts properly before twisting and accusing.
Obviously what Parker said was a bit dodgy, talking to people who actually understood what he meant here, You can't put on a referendum and exculde certain people cause of their political standpoint. That's profiling. If that's what he's saying.
Kind of, not those words exactly but he's bemoaning that bigots got a vote. Whether he's saying they should be allowed to vote(Which is profiling and wrong). Or there shouldn't have been referendum full stop in order to keep bigots from voting I'm not sure. It's bollocks anyway. Tories decided to leave, nobody else.
This is the issue in my opinion, the whole referendum was based on tit for tat politics rather than reality. I genuinely don't believe that either side of voters, not all but a lot IMO, knew enough to make an informed decision. Many still don't from my own experience. As I say my FIL voted leave based on likes of juncker being unelected but that isn't true. Even yesterday he didn't accept it even though I showed him the process of election What this also shows is how much the referendum has split people and I personally think that there needs to be efforts to unify the Brits
The whole thing is a farce, the public and Britain's well being put at risk so the Tories could play games. Bit them on the arse big time and we'll all suffer as a result.
You are correct. I found the notion of USA being our saving grace laughable too as is being proven now. It was one of the bandwagons everyone jumped on and totally ignored Trumps “America First” attitude.
It could. Tough ask without a prolonged timescale though imo. **** load of borrowing required to boost British manufacturing and farming to help us cushion the blow and have us a bit more self reliant. Way it' going the Tories will ruin us imo. I voted in, but want out. I wanted adequate preparation on a realistic time frame to make it smooth. None of it is happening. It's got disaster written all over it.
The sad thing is, the author of article 50 made it so it would not be achievable to leave within the timescales. This is how it would seem as the “negotiations” are going at present. I’m not certain we will actually leave fully anyway (if at all).
That and public opinion will sway massively if things go the way they presently are. The Telegraph ran a story saying that if the referendum was redone now, we would remain. And that’s from the Telegraph! Can’t remember the polling data used sadly.
The problem with polls is they only reach people with genuine interest, I vote on YouGov which is where most polls are taken from and you need enough interest to actually register with them to take part in polls. An uninformed vote is a dangerous vote(Which I think was something Parker was trying to put across) and I think it played a huge part in the result and could do again. I think it would be close.
The difficulty and legalities of leaving Europe is so complicated that I can see the EU and the UK kicking the whole thing into the long grass until the EU offer the UK a deal to try and satisfy the British public via another referendum. For what its worth, I really don't think the public were rightly informed of all the implications of leaving at the time of the original referendum...
Thanks Bri just read Parkers post again and still sounds the same to me we must just read things differently.
Fair dos mate. Did you know. I meant to bring you a pack of raw sausges for a second half snack on Satda for a joke but didn't have the time.
Just context missing, not accusing of owt malicious. I know ya not like that. It was a dry joke, looks like it backfired. Sorry fella.
I believe and this is just my opinion that if there had been a vote for it to go back to the way it was meant at the start there would of been a massive stay in vote where the f uck did all the buraeucratic bastards come from, also something I can't get my head round we pay in £350m in a week and its common knowledge that we get a rebait of around £150 also we get around £100m from the euro back again so how can we be worse off if we end up with a £100m we didn't have before?
