The problem is and has been blatantly obvious for a long time, he had the chance all through the summer to do something about it but chose not to, he loves winning as we've seen from his celebrations on the touchline, so if he want to celebrate he needs to make it happen.... quickly!
If he get the CB then it improves us but doesn't fix the whole problem but it might mean we challenge top 4.
If Lovren had kept running he might just have been able to clear it. I thought the others were too far away? It does show a lack of commitment though, and I hope Klopp makes it clear to them.
they probably were. gomez was about 5 yards ahead of the cbs and started running then gave up. on the other side i think there was a newkie lad in RW position and our lad was looking at him and just stopped cos that guy didn't burst a gut to get up. Lovren actively pulled up rather than just keep going and get back towards line. He actually busied himself in stopping dead rather than even just slow down naturaly. I deffo think he might have got within a yard of the ball at the end so maybe he might have got lucky. The point is deffo.. I don't care if its 1 in 100 to get back you get there cos its your job and your team.
I agree. You can't blame someone for not being good enough if they're giving their all, but lack of effort is unforgivable.
newkie goal we see: gomez in foreground. Henderson on the press..... thats our no 6. wijnaldum on the centre circle where he spent most of the half . Coutinho is top left of pic Mane on the left, moreno way up the pitch as per. Shelvey is now playing the ball. Henderson has decided to go towards him. Wijnaldum is holding station. On the near side gomez is running back tracking. Mane is starting to move backwards. Moreno has finally realised his man is 10 yards ahead of him. coutinho has now been run bast by their right side player. he's only got eyes for ball. quick shot of the back 2.... not in a line first. Matip has obviously played the guy on as he's the one stepping up. Coutinho furthest midfielder back. Gomez is well ahead of his winger. Mane has already given up. Moreno is still 10 yards behind his man. Gomez has now given up. You can see his man gaining about 3/4 yards on him by now. Matip is chasing the guy. Coutinho is now looking at the RW. Lovren is looking at the linesman. Coutinho now out of pic. he's stopped. Gomez is just in pic but has slowed up. lovern is already pulling up here. If anything mingolet has backed off 2 yards Lovren now actively stopping. Mingolet coming back out. Tackle goes in. goal goes in. lovren basrely makes pen area. If you look at 35:20 pic theres what 2 yards between lovren and matip? Lovren never kept up with them at all. Maybe this shows how unfit he is. i don't know. this pic is pointless but.... the ref is the only guy who makes the pic. look back at the shot where shelvey plays the ball. theres 3 LFC players at least 5 yards or more goal side of that ref. they all stopped. the ref ran further than them. ......................................... Most telling pic imo is first one. That midfield is not right. Its what we've seen all year. One pass and we are done for.
Last pic. If Lovren keeps running he's beyond Matip by now as the latter has made a tackle. Lovren may well have been in reach of the ball if he'd kept on and busted a gut. For all that some on here say Moreno has improved, for me his basic defending is still bad. Gomez is not a RB. As to your last comment, I've said for a while that the midfield -in defence- is as much a problem as the back line, and that a strong DM would improve us more than a CB.
I hope Klopp shows that to our players and asks each of them what they were doing, what their reaction to the danger was and whether they would do anything differently The fact that the only one chasing back is the ref is hilarious.
Yes, I feel as though it's gotten worse and the system is breaking down. whether that is coutinho in for lallana OR its pure down to lads just doing their own thing i don't know. DEFFO something must change. be it 41212 formation ro a 343 or whatever.
Without a proper DM we cannot continue to play Klopps formation as it exposes the defence, Hendo simply cannot play the position, he doesn't get it.
I know the attack is stuttering atm, but I fully expect them to get back on song soon. For me, there's easily enough firepower up front to allow two midfielders to hang back, to protect the CBs. Only Hendo seems willing to do it, and I honestly think he's being given a hard time on here when too much is required of him. He needs someone with him, but Can, Gini etc have no discipline to stay where they're put. Would Ox do better? I've no idea, but I think I'd give him a try. I really wanted to see Coutinho behind our front three, but it's leaving us exposed atm. Actually, he's not really taking the No 8 that I was expecting, and is still doing his usual cut in from the left stuff. This gives him the occasional spectacular goal, but isn't helping the shape.
If you're getting done with simple straight balls through the middle of your back line - which is what happened yesterday and the first at City. Then the issue isn't so much the personnel it's the system. He's committing too many bodies forwards and leaving that back line woefully exposed. Shelvey put a 40 yard straight ball through that saw their not very quick striker in 1 on 1 with your keeper. That's gash defending by anyones standards and was down to the lack of anyone closing Shelvey in midfield and your CB's having a gap like the Grand Canyon between them.
I suppose it's down to is whether Henderson as our deepest midfielder is doing what he's told or not? When he's chasing the ball instead of sitting in front of the defence is that him getting it wrong or just what Klopp tells him to do?
thats what i think but.... well fixing it is not easy. the defending was poor as the minute shlevy got it matip should either be goal side OR stepping up. he was the one who was in control there and played him on.
Like I said above, I think we can afford to give him help. We don't need the entire ****ing team to attack.
I agree, we had an old manager who sat 2 in front of the defence and was quite successful his name escapes me?
