Been busy so hadn't commented. Frustrating game we should be winning that, they didn't really show anything going forward and there was no life in us especially 2nd half. Their goal goes to show once again what I've been saying, we need a partnership at CB. They play as individuals.

Given only one of 3 cms were goal side of ball and that was wijnaldum who made a silly effort at blocking that shelvey just passed through... well.. youd think the defenders union would say enough is enough and protprotect h other. Great. The only answer to our defensive problem (and I don't disagree btw) is to add another sh*t defender Our real problem is in Klopps head....and then in recruitment. If he actually thought our defence and midfield was good enough and that there weren't better players available, he needs shooting. Even if he does change his tune, we have the not insignificant problem that we (Edwards) are incapable of delivering top choice signings when needed.

Someone needs to pull their finger out of their arse and accept what we have become before it's too late (for top 4). I can see why Dortmund struggled in Klopps last year in charge; it too him half a season to accept it the stubborn b@stard!

I don't want to either. But if Klopp doesn't see what everyone else does, what choice will we have? Its not quite a disaster yet but it's getting very close.
He probably does see the issues but doesn't want to publicly slate the players. I still think we're close to a very good team 1 CB that can talk and organise and a DM to protect them. If we're picking on players I thought Hendo was terrible yesterday he was the main reason the ball kept going backwards and sideways, no ambition in his passing and no protction for those in behind. Captain? That's not what I'm seeing.

None of the back 5 are up to it, not even clyne if he get back this season. Compared to the rest of the top 6, even arsenal they are dross. 2. None of the midfield are good enough. Coutinho will go and keita come. we lose free kicks and corners not that we ever go for a header from some of the good corners coutinho takes. Can aint that good, henderson is a headless chicken etc etc 3. none of the forwards seem to know where the goal is any more. Mane was AWOL and in the past 3 the rest have ALL had shockingly poor misses. thats what we are doing right now. Theres a bit of talent in there but its being drowned in pukey play and lack of confidence. My view is just ignore it now. don't waste time on it cos its all poo and I'm only wasting my time if i think worrying about it will change it. I know where we are going so i won't be going mad seeing what i just expect to see.
I read your stuff and you are not wrong in some of your thinking but overall I disagree with most of what you say. You look at teams as individuals where I've always played and coached as a team so that weakness in the team is compensated by the sum of the whole thing. At this moment in time there are too many weak spots in the same area and that's what is killing us, the individuals in those areas do not or cannot undrstand what they need to do. So Hendo provides no protection, Lovren and Matip don't work together so we have a hole right at the heart of the team. Now to me this doesn't mean we have to replace them all it means we have to look at why there is no protection and why the CB's don't get on and either coach that or replace one of the components and see if it solves the problem. My opinion is that we have to replace 2 Hendo and Lovren, reasons are clear Hendo has had enough time to learn and understand the role and he has failed to adapt, Matip is a good individual so isn't going to go but Lovren needs a talker next to him and Matip isn't that. Fantasy time now. Put Matic in for Hendo and VVD for Lovren. The protection is now there for the back 4 and the link through to the midfield and forwards is there. There is now a communicator in the back 4 who will tuck in full backs and work with his CB partner. We don't need to replace the whole midfield or defence we just need the right components to make it work. There's no sign of us signing the DM which is a worry but at least Klopp seems to understand we need a CB and I expect that to happen. Hopefully Klopp does understand the issue with Hendo.
The problem is not one part of that has occurred or likely can occur this season. 1. Ignore the fantasy replacements. Do you honestly see any sort of drilled competency in our game? I am just seeing gaps. I can see the very top press but after that the thing is a mess. 2. You say 2 players. Fair enough. I say we've far more issues. Those two replaced should indeed improve this back to competing for 4th. But it won t turn us into challengers imo.
This is where we would just disagree, with proper protection and a communicator I say we will do more than top 4 as confidence starts to flow, players play without fear as they know there are the right people backing them up, with the confidence comes the higher tempo and workrate. The Matic and Utd thing is probably a good example as Matic just that one player allows those forwards and attacking players to go play, they know he's in there if they lose the ball. It's not quite that simple but he's an example and there is flak flying around at Chelsea for them making Utd into title contenders.
That's fair enough. I'm just not seeing the stand up and be counted types we need at the club. Oh some might perk up but I don't think it's enough.
There are a lot of factors as to why we're where we are this season, the main factor has to be the manager, he chooses the players and tactics, he said he's happy with what he's got and he was almost anonymous in the transfer window, yesterday's result feels like a defeat, I'm not suggesting we sack him but I think pressure should be put on him to get our problem areas sorted out pronto, his stubbornness would be admirable if we were doing well and in the top 4. Get your finger out Jurgen.
He has to see the problem and I hope he does, I'm glad he doesn't admit it to the media but pray he's aware of it behind the scenes.
