My organisation with same views as the KKK were put out of business by a copyright court action. The tips of the hoods worn by my lot bent to the left, and the KKK claimed infringement cos theirs bend to the right (thus confusing people as to which organisation they were observing) .
The Question I have is.....do these Basque people regard themselves as Spanish? If not what will they call their country......?
Now that's great, confident oratory that befits a senior politician and leader. Can't think who I am thinking as a comparison, but someone (female) seems to be coming to mind!
They're not Basque. That's another region that has a separatist movement. As for what they'd be called, I'd assume Catalonia.
The French Basque contingent regard themselves as Basque and French. The Spanish Basque contingent I guess would regard themselves as either Basque only or both depending on memories of the nastiness that the state inflicted upon them (Franco era etc) .
It's like the Spanish government want to create several hundred thousand more Catalan nationalists Come to think of it, I did see a passing comment online saying that the plan is to keep provoking the pro-independence Catalans until they lash out in response so the government can keep pointing at the footage/photos to smear the Catalan independence voters. ...which happens to sound an awful lot like what a former talent show judge is doing as he continues to poke the proverbial bear, for example with his latest proclamation that all NFL players should stand for the national anthem for today's games, which of course cannot be read as having any subtext at all as it's not like the vast majority of NFL players are BLACK...
Important phrases for an English to Catalan phrasebook "Voluntat de les persones" - Will of the people "Deixar sortir de mitjans" - Leave means Leave "Deixa de parlar per aquest país" - Stop talking down this country "Cap acord és millor que un mal acord" - No deal is better than a bad deal "Reprengui el control" - Take back control "Ens necessiten més del que necessitem" - They need us more than we need them ...or maybe they'd prefer to engage in an actual conversation instead of throwing around meaningless slogans like certain voters I could mention
This is an actual quote from Michael Gove's conference speech... "There are some cuts of the animal that are hugely popular with the British consumer, others a little less. But some of those cuts are hugely popular elsewhere, say, for example, pigs’ ears are a delicacy in China." ... "one of the reasons why [Britain] has not been as successful as we might have been at selling pigs’ ears to China is that EU rules dictate that pigs, like all livestock, have ear tags." So we've gone from "all of Europe will be lining up to trade with us" to "we can sell pig's ears to China." What is it with Cameronites and pigs? If it's not Cameron himself face-****ing a pig's head, it's Michael Gove making life easy for satirists all over the country.
So the Las Vegas outrage has caused more casualties than some notable bombs. Don't think keeping foreigners out from certain countries really protected anyone in this case. But gun crime has accounted for multiples more American deaths than terrorism - always has - so nobody claiming to protect citizens via the "War on Terror" (TM) really doesn't get it do they.
