Seems to be consensus on 2. For the third I chose Charlton because I believe he was a world class player. Revie said when the midfield lost the ball, charlton and hunter just gave it back to them to try again. I know some have chosen Hunter but I think he was so effective when paired with charlton. He did not do so well when chosen to play for England.

Although an exceptional team you could not say 'world class' for many individuals. Bremner was, 1974 World Cup he was best midfield player I saw there, easily best in every game he played in (including their draw with Brazil). Not sure Giles was tbh, but Bremner plus Giles were the heartbeat of the team.

If I couldn't have Charlton, my third choice for the current Leeds team would be Lorimer, it's interesting no one has mentioned him. He was one of the most direct and effective players we had. He was a lot more than just his shot but that alone made a huge difference, he would shoot and score from distances at which other players would only think about passing. Take a look again at some of the footage on YouTube.

Although I used to love watching gray (with Cooper) tieing up the opponents defenders I feel he was less effective than Lorimer

Yes Loirimer - top scorer too. I put Harvey in based on the current squad

Is this 3 players to add into the current team?or the best 3 players?

Its Giles and Bremner for both scenarios. That's the easy bit.

Then If it's for the current team, we probably need Clarke maybe gray... or perhaps madeley as a left back (if you're going to have a none-specialist left back it might as well be the rolls Royce of Versatility)

If it's simply who are the best 3 players from that team? then it's hunter...though I wouldn't argue too much with Eddie... from an ability perspective he was right up there

Evening Milky, :emoticon-0148-yes: I read it as who were the best to transpose into our current team

Morning Eric<ok> presumed so too but some of the answers left me unsure. Harvey's an interesting suggestion... although he was an international, along with jones he was one of only two players in the side you'd say wasn't really top class... but in terms of improving the current side, a good keeper is a good shout.

Agree about Harvey but perhaps better than the current options although I do have hope for Bailey P-F

Big Jacks in my team for sentimental reasons.
I remember we were playing in thick fog couldn't see past half way heard a cheer from the south end and Jack appearing like a ghost out of the fog to tell us in the Kop that we had scored.
Cano't remember who scored or who we were playing.
    But just a memory.<cheers>

I saw them live but only as a kid, most of my take on that side is archive footage though I undoubtedly picked up opinions from my old boy who was a season ticket holder back in the day. My opinion doesn't therefore count for as much as guys who watched them throughout that period... but

It's always Giles and bremner who catch my eye. Bremner was undoubtedly a star at the 74 World Cup, in a very good jock side. Giles didn't have that luxury but if he wasn't world class, the bar for world class was damn high.

Hunter was the first Pfa player of the year and very highly rated by everyone in the game...Big jack was a great presence and character to have in the side but hunter the class act of the pairing for me.

I expect you're right I've got Valencia in the Fairs Cup in my head but tbh all the games from 50 years ago merge into one in my head

I would have Cooper at number 3 and Madeley as sub and say that that was Leeds best team ever. Picking 3 would have to be Bremner, Gray. and either Giles or Clarke.

Initially I had Bremner, Giles Clarke, but Lorimer would give us serious firepower.

When Lorimer came back to play for us at 38 he was different class

In a way it just highlighted how much we had fallen in less than 10 years
