To all those criticising Slutsky, I think he got an awful lot right today and showed he does no what he is doing as you don't win 6-1 by having a bit of luck. There are some clear signs of potential, but I'm not getting carried away. We are still a long way of the top sides but clearly we have goals in us which makes a real change from previous years. I've always said I would rather play attacking football and risk losing the odd game. Also great to see Bowen doing so well, I think the negativity around the club has taken some shine off him. We brought him in as a young lad and developed and he is now the top scorer in the Championship, he deserves a lot more praise than he is getting. Any other club's forum would be lavishing praise on him every two minutes, we are spending too much time having a go at each and other that we don't praise Bowen (and Clark!) anywhere near enough. Let's enjoy this victory rather than turn it into an Allam arguement! UTT!
He was a bit more measured in his after match comments. "It was plain to see after 10 or 15 minutes that physically and mentally four or five weren't quite at it and against a team of Hull's quality you're always going to get found out. Ultimately I've got to do better as a coach and understand the environment I'm working in a little bit better."
You just had to get your lets applaud the Allams comment in... why did you feel the need to mention it...? i'll quote you "let's just enjoy the victory'... then you put a massive negative to finish your statement..
Not really interested in Birmingham, but if they do avoid relegation, following that hammering that will be some feat.
Ok .. the run continues .. my good luck charm strikes again. However it's is amazing what a difference to the team when the selections are right and they put in a shift .. great pressure from the off from Campbell through to the back 4 .. some terrific goals in there as well .. proper footballing goals. Think it was the 5th which started in our right hand coŕner and we passed it through them up the field resulting in a goal .. brilliant stuff. Now I'm a realist and I know Birmingham weren't great but the whole balance of the team looked far better then previous weeks.. the desire and hunger was back .. I do still have concerns about our defence still and in all honesty we could have conceded more then the one but credit to the lads going forward we do look very potent. Thought Meyler and Campbell were the outstanding performers today and was slightly quizzical of the decision to give Grozicki the mom .. he did well in parts but still frustrates more then excites .. Toral looks classy on the ball and Larsson also did well .. Hector looks so good at times then looks like Bambi on ice when they run at him .. the rest did their jobs well and Bowen continued his good run .. all in all a rare treat to see us play so well .. here's hoping it continues after the international break
Hull city ace or Birmingham so so ****. I don't ****ing care. We won. We're still dodgy as, at the back and that gives me every reason to think well struggle this season. But when we click going forward it's great to watch.
I think you were a bit harsh with your initial comment about not being hopeful about Slutsky changing things, he seems to me to be a very shrewd fella. Meyler said last week that once they found the formula we would probably blow teams away. I would give him time and not pass a judgement after 12 games especially with the other things going on at the club
City were superb today, the early goal from a mistake settled our nerves and shredded theirs. Agree with those praising Larsson, he was tremendous today as were Meyler and Toral. On the other hand, that N’Doye they had in midfield was one of the worst players I’ve seen in years, constantly coughing up possession and his weird running gait made him look like the sciencey kid that hates sports. Their keeper didn’t dive for any of our goals, he clearly doesn’t want to be there. Cotterill has a big job turning that ****ship around.
Think we could do with a win and decent performance away from before everyone feels a bit more at ease with the season. We're not going to blow teams away like we did today away from home and we've got to show we can close out tight games without giving away stupid goals. Two away games next and it will be a great opportunity to end this winless run away from home or else it'll be back to square one by the time we play Forest at the end of the month.
Loved all the goals today , but enjoyed the first because it was just like going back 10 years , Campbell clean through and no doubht of the outcome , and the 5th was beautiful to watch - we have proved this season that we are too good at home for the weaker sides , jury is still out if we can do anything to trouble the sides at the top , but one thing today did prove was we have ability in the squad , you don't score 6 against anybody with a **** team , so that excuse can stop if we struggle to build on today
