Was positive about Pellegrino this season but so far haven't see a thing to suggest he's an upgrade on Puel. If anything I think it's worse. The football is slow and our attacking players look like they are running through tar half the time. I'm not wishing him sacked because that would be madness so early in the season, but I just don't see the appeal in watching Saints right now. Les Reed needs to get his ****ing **** together.
Many of the players we have were also part of that team that that gave us European football two seasons ago... so l am not so sure that its about players alone.
At least Puel would have known what players he wanted, Pellegrino has had to work it out which i think it made harder as the squad looks good on paper.
Not buying any attacking players in the summer could be the boards worst blunder yet. We did so well with lemina and hoedt but didnt address the biggest weakness of all.
It was a new season and a new manager, and we weren't creating much at the end of last season...... so I can totally understand why people felt positive then. But yes, Jan is all important, and Les needs to pull his finger out.
Well Stoke away isn't an easy game so a loss is disappointing but not unexpected. Definitely need to change things though as bar one or two games we've played poorly.
Astonishing how we actually looked quite threatening when we had more than one striker on the pitch. Maybe it is rocket science this football manager lark.
Pretty much. Hasn't changed for a good while. We have scored 3 goals from open play all season. In 8 matches.
533 passes to their 173 lol. I think this is going to be it for me as pretty much everything else has been said before but one thing i was really hopping is that we would take a few more risks with Lemina and Romeu in the team but that just doesn't seem to be happening. we need to be more aggressive.
We badly need a squad overhaul. Difficult to do in winter, but next summer we need to move on at least a couple from the group of Tadic, Redmond, Davis, JWP, Long and Austin. Not because any of them are terrible individually, but because they're bad as a collective group. It isn't suddenly going to click: we're now approaching 60 games over the past year and a bit where we've scored less than a goal per match.
We are such a safe, passive, and conservative team. No invention, no risks, and very predictable. And dull, very dull.
Yep. Still a very dirty, thuggish team that seems to be perplexed whenever a foul is given against them. Fans are the same.
I was annoyed at the points dropped against Huddersfield and Watford, but at least from what I saw/heard both sides were value for their points. But Swansea and now Stoke I saw/heard nothing really that warranted them avoiding defeat. Which absolutely means looking at ourselves.
Oh look "Meltdown Day" has arrived again. It's frustrating but we were excellent last week and we weren't bad today. We have one problem and unfortunately it's the biggest one you can have in football. Gabbiadini has to start in 2 weeks time and with a partner up front.
