I don't recall making a claim that we have won a trophy. It's quite possible to have the best starting X1 and not win anything. Why is getting more points over 82 matches not evidence that we have the best side?
Of course it’s possible you’ve demonstrated that for two seasons. Chelsea won 7 more points than you last year and Leicester 10 points more the year before but we made ours count.
Well, he is the master of pulling arbitrary and meaningless stats out of his arse and touting them like they mean a damn. You were the 3rd best team in 2015/16 and the second best team in 2016/17.
It's not strictly true to say the the team who finished second were the second best. Luck does come into it and it does matter over 38 matches. I reckon it is worth something like +/- 5 points. That would mean that over two seasons it would be worth +/- 7 (assuming luck is uncorrelated). Just as in any other use of the statistics, the more data you have the more they are likely to reflect reality so I don't think taking two seasons together is arbitrary or meaningless. Clearly the longer you go back the less relevant the data is as the squads have changed.
OR, and I know this sounds crazy.....you could just look at the league table..... Are you sure you aint Astro?
Yeah its called the Premier League title. They give it out each May to the team who had the most points in the league that season
So lets just say we give you the +5 points to make you extra lucky you still wouldnt have won the league in either season as you were well behind the league leaders. Any other key astro factors you want to throw in? How about we do an arsenal and give points for goals scored?
The Spuds are the only fans I've ever heard say that they have the best team, whilst not winning anything. Cranky kants.
Chelsea are a year on year off team , they better concentrate on a top ten finish this season as they barely made it two seasons ago . Anything else is Gravy .
One of only two teams to actually retain a PL title....... This team is nothing like Mourinho's team of 2015 though. Half our first XI is different, and Conte has us playing a completely different way to Jose.
