He hasn't even got his own back room staff. Anyone who thinks Slutsky made these signings, well. He'd never even have heard of Campbell. As for Kingsley - terrible signing.
The backroom staff thing doesn't even get talked about any more cos we're so used to this crap but it's an absolute scandal.
I was under the impression Aina had a good game tonight. You know what, I try to not pass judgment, because I don't see the games. I should stick to that. Tonight I failed. I will say this though, some of our younger less experienced players might be struggling with the amount of games in a short space of time. They've been thrown in at the deep end?
No I'm not. I think Slutsky's a bit **** as I suspected all along but he's not the real problem by a long shot. I disagree with pinning all the blame on him, but last year was a higher division and we were even worse prepared for that level than we are now for this, so I think it was a downright embarrassment that people blamed the manager(s) last year.
Slutsky has made some poor choices, but at the same time I can see why he has made some of them them. The squad shouldn't be playing as badly as this because they are decent players. But he hasn't coached them to give the ball away, miss tackles or perform crappily. He has to motivate them, but has been said, he doesn't have an assistant to help him, he's relying on Pennock and that isn't Pennock's remit really. I remember we had a similar (though not as ****) spell under Bruce and then Phelan came in and things improved. I'd get a solid British assistant in to help him out and give him a second set of eyes on the game. The formation hasn't worked, but he admitted in the post match that he's going to have to change it. One up front isn't working because our striker is too isolated, but 3 at the back is similarly disastrous at the moment because our defence is so shaky. Hector looked like he wanted to cry every time somebody ran at him, Mazuch looks like more of an enforcer and that's the change I would have made instead of taking Tomori off.
Even if slutsky leaves there isn't a decent manager that would touch us with a barge pole. Phelan only got the job because he was the only one that wanted it. Silva took the job because it was a no lose situation for him and a chance to use us to get a better job Slutsky probably a bit of both but more a phelan scenario We get managers that want a job more than a manager we want. Nothing will change until the owners change so I'm not arsed if he stays or goes, no one will come who can do anything different. You can polish a ****e but it's still a ****e Actually the only man that could do it won't leave Cardiff
Regardless of who got sold and who got brought in , the question is , is the squad as bad as our league position says ? For me I think some of the team selections are strange , and I agree with what others are saying about we don't seem to have a style of play , as much as the Allams have created a difficult situation you can't just give the manager a free pass on everything all season - the Allams don't keep playing 1 up top when chasing a win , and the Allams didn't pick Henriksen ahead of Meyler , The Allams didn't play 3 up top away at Fulham , 5 days after a 5-0 drybumming, - for me he is not doing enough with what he has , I hope he turns it around , but I'm not confident
That's just it though isn't it. We have no strength in depth. Who's fault is that? We can't possibly go blaming Len for that. He has to make do.
I truly hope Leo can sort it out, but tonight on the touch line he worries me. He just paces up and down and doesn't seem to have a clue what needs to be changed. This is worrying, as we just look totally disorganised. P.S. By the way Alex Neil is a bigger **** than I ever thought he was, and a Scottish **** at that.
The last thing we need right now is more upheaval. Yes, for the players we have we are not performing as well as we should, but in reality we are not a great team at this level. As has been mentioned we have a squad of misfits and young loan signings thrown together a month into the season, I very much doubt Slutsky got the players he really wanted. As long as we don't go down then does it really matter if we finish 20th or 10th? A change now would just mean a whole new rebuild and you see it so often with teams that come down from the premier league they chop and change their manager a few times over a couple of years and then they're in League One. Slutsky is in a new country and a new league. When you start a new job you get things wrong to begin with it's how you learn from those mistakes. He played Meyler and Larsson together, it didn't work, he then gave them another game to see if it worked out (Sunderland at home) but it didn't so he brought Meyler on at half time. I admire him for not giving up on it straight away but also for not being too stubborn to change it. What Sterling has said above also about 3/5 at the back and 1 striker, he's tried it a few games and given it time to see if it will work, it appears not so hopefully he sounds like he is going to change it on Saturday. I agree he really needs an assistant for a second opinion. He has shown he is capable of changing games though, it's just the start we need to sort out so we don't need to make drastic changes during the game. He's doing what he can with a bad situation, yes he's made mistakes but give the man a chance! People were criticising Palace only last week for sacking De Boer after 4 games yet we think 10 games with a squad thrown together last minute and a 20+ goal a season striker injured is enough time?
Give the job to Lee Darnborough. He brought the players in didn't he? At least we can point the finger at Ehabs puppet for ****ing it up and then at Ehab for employing him, then at Papa for creating the biggest ****ing waste of oxygen using plasma stuff I have ever seen. I know I said I wouldn't but I voted for retaining Leonid.
Jury is still out... The jury might give a verdict after Birmingham...GUILTY or NOT GUILTY or maybe the judge will accept a manslaughter verdict.
Looking at tonight's game, PNE were a load of journeymen footballers, but were organised. On paper we had better players, but we were just total disjointed. The tactics of lumping the ball up field were they had 2 centre back much bigger than our sole striker was a total waste of time as it just came straight back at us. The whole team looks as if they are playing off the cuff, with no plan or if there is a plan, any idea what the plan is, if there ever was one.
Have to agree John...They were well organised and drilled. We didn't have a clue. No plan B to change it. I'm worried that Slutsky is on easy street and can't be booted out because Rehab as a gentleman's agreement with Chelski to keep him whatever happens.
I don't care how poor or average the playersyers brought in are, and they aren't. This is poor coaching. **** me alex Neil has had **** all to spend and look what he has done with preston. Simple truth. Either he isn't aware how to manage or is asking too. Much of them. Or the players aren't listening. Does anyone think Neil Warnock would keep Aina at right back when he can't defend?? No he's push. Him. Up to to right. Midfield and. Get a rb in at rb.
