  1. Not sure he will be particularly missed...
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddy_Shepherd

Corruption and general financial abuse and disregard for the game in general loom large in his history. Makes the current Toon Chairman look almost angelic!!

Major surprise is that with that 'form', Shepherd was never considered suitable for a Role in FIFA!! <laugh>

I thought he was long since dead. One of the last of the 'old guard' of fat cat businessmen from the locality who used to own pretty much every football club. Louis Edwards, Peter Swales, Doug Ellis are particularly memorable. They have been replaced by fat cat oil billionaires from dodgy parts of the world.

    Plus ca change......mes amis.

Perhaps FIFA set the corruption very high for potential
employees. So high that Freddy could not reach it.

Say what you want about Colin, but he gets teams promoted from the Championship.
Cardiff 2-0 up tonight v Leeds. Likely opponents next season.

    Make that 3-0

He's also really good at taking teams back to the Championship, though

Yeah, but he's always had teams punching above their weight.
They get the experience and a few tens of millions in the bank.
    What's not to like?

Sunderland humped again and in the familiar place that is the relegation zone. Not usually in that division, though.
Simon Grayson was a curious appointment and I suspect he'll be shown the door before long.

Accrington next season as things stand.
No stability - changes in managers and players for fun, money wasted on mid price foreign players.
They will rise again when a half decent manager gets hold of them in League One, brings in Championship quality players and the team is settled for two years. They should look at what Burnley and Bournemouth have done and learn from it.

I don't get why Atletco paid that much. Surely they were the only bidder and the only place that Diego Aggro wanted to go? Having made it clear he wasn't playing for Chelski again, why didn't Atletico bid 10 cents instead? It's not like there was a bidding war, so what happened to supply and demand.

As much as it galls me to say it, they do some very good transfer work. They've got some very big sales done. They got an obscene amount for Oscar and this is really too much for a player who was in that relationship with the club. It's akin to Spurs paying the £50m Everton wanted for Barkley. There was NO ****ING CHANCE that we'd pay anything like that and Atletico have overpaid, no matter how much they wanted him.

I see Chelsea's capacity to win matches late into extra time remains undiminished. It doesn't matter who coaches them this trend stays with them.

We have a tough October and November so let's get a good winning momentum going these next two matches.

    Ancelotti's been sacked. How ridiculous.
The were some rumours a while ago about him being offered outrageous amounts to coach in China.
Something tells me that he'll be glad to be shot of the constant hassle he was getting, to be honest.

I watched the Bayern v Hoffenheim game a few days ago. They started off fine but by the end Hoffenheim were well in it. The team containing Lahm, Ribery, Robben, Alonso and Muller has had its day and Neuer is currently injured. Some of the names remain but they're not what they once were. They've started a process of rebuilding but that's half a team and some bloody big characters to replace. There's also the problem that despite their size, they've not got the money to throw around like the oil barons at PSG.

Last night's selection was very odd and almost a 'come on' to the powers that be at Bayern to sack him. He's probably better off somewhere else and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't think so himself.

Good luck to whoever's replacing him. I think they're going to need it.

If only there was a manager who had a wealth of experience in the Bundesliga who was waiting for a chance to prove himself in one of Europe's top jobs after years of being the bridesmaid...
