Windies going at just under 7 at the minute, needed around 7.3 at the start. Gayle just starting to hit out though!
England win by 124 runs to go 2-0 up in series. The accuracy with which the Windies find England fielders is awe inspiring!
His contract is up at Worcester. Hampshire, Warwickshire and even Middlesex are all vying for his serivces, as I suppose are his current county, Worcestershire. Will it benefit any of the counties though, considering he plays both the limited over and longer version for England?
Great knock by Morgan. If ever a guy needs time in the middle, it is him. However, he has played very little cricket this year, as he has not featured in any 4 day games for his county. Absolutely ridiculous.
Because he's centrally contracted. He literally wouldn't cost a county a penny whilst the central contact with the ECB is in place. So even if he only played one county match, that is still one county match for free (for the county). Only if the ECB were to ever not renew his annual central contract, would the salary of his county contract 'kick in'. (Which is why Northants had to let Monty go a few years back - they couldn't afford to have him back on their books, once he lost his central contract. They were already spending his old county salary elsewhere, as had not expected him to lose to central contract).
Thanks Brendy!! Wonder if Essex will give game time to Alastair Cook in this final round of matches. I suspect not.
Went to the England game today, was a good game. Only slight disappointment was Gayle getting run out pretty stupidly when he was settled, if he had carried on it could've been a great finish. Moeen was crazily good.
Yorkshire are now safe. Somerset cannot catch them. If Middlesex can somehow make 250 on that turning Taunton wicket, then they too will be safe. And it will be a two horse race between us and Somerset. But all the signs would point to 250 being a very tough task for Middlesex. Eight points is the target we have been set to survive. But that could be reduced to as low as six points, if Middlesex were to fail to make 200.
My point is , what if it does disrupt the game. You and several others have far more knowledge than me , I like watching , but am clueless .
