In your eyes, what has been the best overtake so far? Here's a few that stick out in my mind:
Schumacher on Hamilton - Monte Carlo
Webber on Kobayashi - Monte Carlo
Schumacher on Massa and Kobayashi - Montreal
    Hamilton on Button - Shanghai
    Massa on Vettel - Nurburgring
    Button on Rosberg - Valencia

Schumacher on Hamilton, Monte Carlo - Good opportunistic move
Webber on Kobayashi, Monte Carlo - Didn't Kobayashi yield because he cut the chicane?
Schumacher on Massa and Kobayashi, Montreal - Again, opportunistic
Hamilton on Button, Shanghai - A significant overtake, but a simple one.
Massa on Vettel, Nurburgring - Brainfade
Button on Rosberg, Valencia - Poor defending by Rosberg than anything else

So overall the overtake of the season so far has to be....

Alonso on Kobayashi in Australia. Outside of turn 12. Skills.

Button on Rosberg, outside of turn 14 in Turkey.
    Hamilton on Alonso, Copse.

Webber actually got up the inside of Kobayashi and passed him going into the chicane, so Kobayashi had to cut the chicane and then yield on the exit. I thought the Button on rosberg one was good as Button had a very close call, nearly hitting rosberg's right rear tyre and was very smart in making it stick.

Strangely enough, if there was one good overtake from Australia I remember, it's the one Vettel did around the outside of one of the Mclarens (i think it was Button) at turn 4.

I preferred Button's overtake of Webber in Barcelona rather than the one on Rosberg in Valencia.

I really liked Buttons overtake on Rosberg in Valencia.

Hamilton on Button at China, very gutsy overtake on his own team mate and very sensible of Button not to turn into him.

Hamilton on Alonso in Silverstone, again very brave for going down the inside through standing water with dry tyres.

Schumacher on Button was also a great overtake in Germany during the first lap.

Couple more: Maldonado on Sutil and Barrichello on Schumacher, both in Monaco.

    Too many to remember. <steam>

I did like Button's around the out side of Rosberg at Turkey, Massa at Turkey, and Massa at Silverstone.

Also Alonso's on Kobayashi at Australia, and on Webber at Valencia.

Also the Mclaren battles in Turkey and Hungary.

Hamilton somehow doing alonso using a wetter line at copse was pretty good as mentioned, I'll have a good think over lunch, but of course answers depend on how you saw the move, I.e. who you support <laugh>

It was either Lewis on Fernando at Germany. Round the outside of Turn 2. Or Lewis on Fernando at Silverstone. On the wet stuff, brave move at Copse.

I would give it to Lewis's move on Alonso at Copse, because Fernando was napping and hugging the apex of Turn 2 too much(I don't know what he was thinking).

Button did a good one on Rosberg around the outside of the last corner as well.

No. Kobayashi had to yield otherwise there would have been significant contact. Also Alonso had a much better car.

If you include that, why leave out Schumacher on Petrov at the same corner in same conditions? Only difference between those overtakes is that Alonso was struggling with tyre temperature while Petrov wasn't.

I guess the Hamilton move was of more importance at the time

Well greater significance and the fact the Ferrari was a much faster car that day, it did win the race afterall(I know the cold-wet bit wasn't Alonso's favourite but you get the idea!)

Hmm… some interesting opinions, many of which are inevitably coloured by personal 'favourite' drivers etc.

As has already been said, there have been so may good moves it is difficult to pick out one above all others; but my gut feeling goes with one or other of the McLaren drivers for audacious daring.

Button has pulled off some outrageously graceful dances around his competitors, but for all-round overtaking ability in the heat of battle, Hamilton is one of the very best the world has ever seen. I don't make comments like this lightly but as far as overtaking is concerned, he really is up there with (or better) than anyone in history - and of course, this certainly includes Kobayashi! We are currently in one of the most competitive eras F1 has ever experienced, yet there is this one driver who is a fair bet to come out on top in battle almost every time, if he still has tyres…

I think I am pretty fair with what I have said. Hamilton's move on Alonso at Copse was a great overtake, considering Copse is high speed and it was wet where Lewis actually braked so such a brave move. The move on Alonso at Germany around the outside was good, but that was because Alonso was napping and hugging the apex of Turn 2 too much not doing what Lewis did with Webber and hold the normal line and just run the guy out of road. As for other drivers Jenson's move on Nico was quite good too. Probably second best this season.
