I don't mind merson , he does talk some sense at times on soccer saturday. I get fed up at times when Jeff asks le tiss about saints matters, and people seem to believe he speaks for all saints fans. He may have been a great player for us but does prove him self to be a bit of a nob at times, infact I prefer merson to le tiss as a pundit.

    ______________

I feel the exact opposite to that statement.

He always seems sidelined on Soccer Saturday because the other three turn towards each other. He only gets his chance to speak if directly asked....I guess Matty is just less pushy than Merson and the others. Be interesting to see how it would work out if his seat was changed.

Merson comes across as a complete idiot when he chats on Soccer Saturday, but what he says may actually have some substance, even if said in a stupid way. Didn't someone on here link the PL table compared to what his predictions were last season and he was pretty close to being right with his guess? That is not an easy feat and shows he does know what he is on about. Compared to someone like Lawro anyway.

I find that most people like to slate pundits and very few seem to be generaly liked (Gary Neville about the only one I can think of, but his stuff doesn't come directly from him and more the way Sky set their show up). The truth is is that ex players will know more about football than the vast majority of the viewers, but are usually pretty crap at getting their points across verbally. I've always said that journalists would be the best pundits as they watch loads of football and understand it and also are good at surmising their points so will come across well. Problem with that is is you will get the general mouth breathing football fan moaning "who is this nobody?" and will only listen to an ex player.

Okay it's not that I don't "like" MLT he seems a fairly decent person I guess. But it's just that fact the sky sports seem to think that anything he says is the view of the whole Southampton fan base, and that's not the case certainly from my point of view anyway. And yet when Cortese was in charge MLT got the hump because we wouldn't give him free tickets and then basically used soccer Saturday as a front to slag Cortese off and get all his little drones to back him up saying how unfairly he'd been treated, which was playground stuff.

The reason I like Merson is yes he comes out with some **** I agree, but he has his opinion and sticks to it despite sometimes the rest of the panel not agreeing with him, that and he's just one of the lads off camera.

That's just my opinion anyway, I'm sure most will disagree with me ,but that's life.

Stelling is the worst on Soccer Special, I don't really care about any of the others particularly. Find Merson a bit annoying, but not massively so and as I said he does know what he is on about.

I think you’ll find that Neville does come up with most of his stuff. I went to the sky studio for Saturday night football (when it was in front of an audience), and they spend a few hours before the game going through what they want to pick up and do.

Watch those knees Jay. I wince every time I see him put himself in danger of injuring himself.
