The stats you provided showed something like having the best attack is better than having the best defence. We don’t need to be the best in either - we just need the best balance. Our attack is probably second to Man City but our defence is bottom half at best. We don’t need the best defence, we just need a top 4 defence.
I've never tried to say that having a good defence is unimportant, just that it's not as crucial as some believe it to be - and the stats supported that. Every time someone says " we'll never get anywhere unless we build from the back" I wheel out the same argument. Winning games wins trophies, and there's more than one way to do it.
As always, we're in agreement on this subject. Having a competitive GD is far more important than having a excellent defensive record <ok >
Of you win more than you lose you generally have a healthy GD. Of course, you could win 37 games 1-0 and lose the other 37-0 to get a zero GD but only a dick would suggest that as realistic
No - your point was that it’s better to have the best attack than the best defence. That’s what your stats support. But my point is that we need a top 4 defence, not the best defence. We have a quality attack but do you feel confident that we will win every game? We are likely to give away our leads just as easily as we gain them. Hence why fans are calling for a better defence. Ever since Rafa left as well as our defence, what have we achieved? Sod all. At the end of the day, it’s not a case of having one over the other. We need to be really good in all areas.
Chelsea beat spurs last year with less goals scored and more goals conceded. Leicester beat spurs with less goals scored and more goals conceded too. Healthy GD/best defence/goals scored isn't indicative of who will win the league

Yeah. It was nice, with the tough games getting out of the system it's a chance now to put some points on the board. Not many will do better against City, United, Chelsea etc if that was their opening run. Win the games we were expected to win and a nice point at City.
