Morning all.... back in circulation after a sejourn en France.... at least no ticks this visit. Good to see the boys doing so well.. and we are looking to hold a mid-table position.... not up to the best but clearly as good as any of the rest..... COYH!
Morning all, grey, dark and damp here which means I will have to juggle my plans a bit. Only today and tomorrow before I set off north on Wednesday and plenty of preparation to do, even if I can cross off giving the car a wash from the list.
Can you ask those naughty French air traffic controllers to not strike on Saturday so we will be able to fly to Menorca. I hope the anti tourist brigade have not reached there yet!!
I saw this this morning, it sums up how I’ve been feeling this last two weeks. “Industry is dependent on technology, Technology is dependent on technical staff, Technical staff are twats”.
Morning all, a bit overcast at present but sun forecast for later. Wedding Anniversary today and remembered it which has put me in someones good books. We have decided that a nice meal tomorrow in Dieppe will be a good way to celebrate the event. There are some excellent restaurants up there, and some that are not so good. At one time the ferries used to sail right into the centre of the town, but then they built a new port on the opposite side of the estuary. It is a nice town, but there some old disused docks that are not so pleasing on the eye. Just a sign of how things have moved on.
Be careful, lots of FN strongholds in the North. Instead of 1 in 3 FN supporters there might be nearer 3 in 3!!!
I know that I am popular, but never imagined that 2,700 tickets would be sold simply so that people could be with me on Saturday. Another away day sell out it seems.
Morning all, a bright sunny morning and later this morning I will start on the trip north. There are plenty of jobs to do just to leave things functioning while I am away. Topped up the greenhouse watering system, emptied the compost bucket, what's next? Mug of coffee seems a good idea.
Off to Angouleme for a special lunch-in the station restaurant !Can't say I've found anything similar at Manchester Piccadilly. Also hoping to arrang a telephone deal for next year where they turn us on when we ask (as we come here) and turn us off as we leave. We only pay for the time it's on. Sounds great anyway.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/09/18/upshot/best-health-care-system-country-bracket.html A rather interesting article from the New York Times in which a panel discuss the good/bad points about the health systems of UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore and vote on which they think is the best. I read through it without looking at the date - which I did after reading what they said about NHS. Surprisingly, it's only nine days old...
It's a very odd way to find the best system. By any recognised international measure the NHS is (surprisingly) the most efficient in terms of outputs (treatments in total) to inputs. If you can afford it ( i.e. Private , and of course SH will delight in telling us he goes private) the US & Switzerland do better. The us performance as a natio is appalling - just look at infant mortality. Anyone, ANYONE who thinks private health care is a good thing just doesn' understand the reality-whatever rich ghetto they inhabit. Just to throw a red herring into the works. Our son worked in Indonesia for 3 years. Huge number of people very poor health system. Anything remotely serious was shipped to Singapore or Darwin We in Uk are still astonishingly fortunate in spite of the govt most stupid efforts to wreck it.
Let me know if you find a good phone deal... and give me details please..... as we pay all year round for ours and are only there for 2/3 months
