He is. Walcott and Nasri rarely get in the box and Fabregas used to be all over the midfield. In every game Van Persie has 2 CB's on him.
No I agree with what you say about Bent but Van P also fannys about a lot more looking for the Hollywood pass when he should be twatting it at goal whereas other strikers have much more ruthlessness.
Yeah like we didn't know Torres. Don't expect loyalty from modern day players...but if he does stick around good luck to him.
That could be said before last season. But he was clearly a lot more direct last season. A lot of snap shots and so on.
Yeah he got me lots of fantasy points last year all good but too expensive for this season Off to bed me but see you boys at the New Library tomorrow...Luis gonna rip you up
We'll see. If van persie scores a hat trick or a bicycle kick better than rooneys tommorow, this thread will be hilarious. It will either be RVP brilliance or Liverpool domination. I cant see a draw happening.
Yeah he is!! So am i... If i played more games I would be the best in the world, unfortunatly i only played 3 games last year, i am still the best though
rvp is a lightweight, lets not kid ourselves. He is a guy who goes missing and quickly. He haa great foot on him, all 3 games of the season but that is it. Fabs gone and he will not cement a permanent place in the barca team, rvp is nowhere near his level RVP is a dutch chris sutton
For Holland RVP is brilliant. For Arsenal, yes he plays well but isn't as effective as he could be if he had the sort of players around him that he has at Holland. In that sense I agree that he is the dutch Chris sutton, as the best strikers don't NEED quality players around them to be fully effective
He is very rarely fit - so who would want him? Personally due to fitness i think 10 mil is a fair price. Id have Darren Bent over him all day long.
Some of our fans are massively underrating RVP. He's a very talented and well rounded player. As for being the best in the league though, that's madness. What's the point in having a Ferrari if it breaks down so often half the time you have to get the bus to work?
Exactly my point. He has bags of talent but unfortunately bigger bags of injuries. He will not go down as a great but as a 'what if...'
Bent would be a more reliable option, simple. Obviously RVP is a better player than Bent - but id take Bent anyday.
I'm clearly stating my view, and you wont change that with a load of stats. I'm sure i could also find some stats to show my point, but sorry can't be arsed. After reading through this thread it is clear only a very small minority agree with you, so please save your time and argue with something that has a bit more substance to it. Yours sincerely, Skylarker.
Clearly very biased. Got any stats that show the amount of time he has spent injured? I am not saying he isn't a good player - just saying i wouldn't want him at Liverpool as he is as reliable as 1987 Ford Escort.
Ok fair comment Like i said he is a very good player, i don't think anyone will deny that. Such a shame for the lad he has suffered with so many injuries. We have similar problems at Liverpool, probably our best CB (Agger) is always injured. Also Aurelio (when fit a top class LB) is always injured, hence we had to bring in Enrique as he just wasn't reliable enough. So i know exactly how you feel - and to be honest i don't like seeing a talent wasted.
18 goals in 25 games last season was very impressive but to put him in the class you have he'd need to do this over a number of years. Drogba, Torres,Rooney, Tevez even Bent have performed consistently in the premier league over a number of seasons so I would put him behind them (compare their overall goal ratios, not just 1 season if you disagree).I also think Aguero and Suarez look better all round players but time will tell.
