http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...0-1-Manchester-United-Lukaku-nets-winner.html The Mail report inc. interviews with both managers. Prior to the match, Mauricio said that you could judge yourselves against teams like United. In the interview post-match, he said we would win more games than we lose playing like that. I have to agree that it has given me more confidence that this could be a good season....apart from the goal scoring issue, I think the team is beginning to come together. Also he mentioned that Cedric had a groin problem and Pied was on the bench to cover that. May explain why it wasn't his best game.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41374186 United has requested CCTV from us to help identify fans singing the Lukaku song.
Singing about his penis size....some claim it is racist. Don't agree with that, but certainly unpleasant.
Yep, it's so blatantly biased. It's actually pretty sickening at times. No doubt they would argue that they were discussing the winning team. I wonder, who makes the decisions on what to discuss. Is it the pundits alone?
I guess technically it is racist. Any language that leans toward a racial stereotype should be eliminated. It's not the lyrics itself, it's the idea you can typecast someone because of their race and that's acceptable.
He was and I've been pretty impressed with Jones this season. Think Jose M is improving him and I'd have him as the first CB for England for the next few games.
Someone in the ground yesterday told me the Man U fans were singing about the 96....and they want the cctv of the lukaku chant? Doesn't make sense to me.
Depends if it is insulting or meant to be insulting....which these ManU morons claim it isn't. I just think it is daft to embarrass a player when you are trying to support him. We stereotype people all the time...often in humour (British are drunks, Scots are mean for example) and sometimes for valid scientific/medical reasons. It's getting so daft now that no one is allowed to suggest there are racial differences. Racism is where such differences are used as an excuse to treat people unfairly or to insult them. The Lukaku song doesn't fall into either of those categories, but is definitely vulgar and ineffective (if they intend to support their player).
He certainly incites me to want to punch his smug arrogant face. MOTD is oh so yesterday as are all of its pundits. The media really has gone to the dogs.
Perhaps a little harsh. It's a tough one. As LTL says, what we gain in energy we loose in intelligent runs by Gabbi. Maybe yesterday we should of started with Gabbi. Think there is time though. As Romeu and Lemina establish themselves as the rock in front of defence which they are quickly doing, we should have more possession in the opposition half to create more for Gabbi. That's my limited technical view! Seems to be coming together, and MP has said it will take time.
I think the second we get the ball just inside the opposition half and Gabbi is on the pitch, whoever has it HAS to look up and pass it to him. I sit halfway between the halfway line and the edge of the area in the Itchin, and the runs Gabbi was making from the moment he came on were all being missed. My view of yesterday was a tough first half - not terrible, but didn't inspire me for the second. The second half was the old Saints, wave after wave of attacks and we had Man U worried. They finished the match with six defenders. Mourinho tried gamesmanship, wasting time etc. He clearly didn't know that we can play great footie to the area then it stops Nice to see LTL before the game for a brief beer (well not me as I am on antibiotics), I'll make it longer next time...I need to stop going to football with my miserable mate who just wants to get to the ground to sit and stare at the grass for an hour.....
I was mentioning on a regular basis how impressed I was at Rashford's defensive work. Over and over again Cedric and/or Tadic were overrun, largely because of Rashford tracking back to help out. I thought it was very evident, consequently, why Jose always picks him. So I'm fully with Murphy on that one. Blind came on to run down the clock, because he's an actual defender, and because Rashford had 90 minutes in his legs. I had him just behind Bailly as my MOTM.
JM played extra time perfectly - hugely drawn out sub and getting himself sent off to disrupt our momentum.
Yep. I was watching him hold Blind back on the first couple of occasions in injury time, because a long stoppage had already been able to occur from someone feigning injury for example. He wasn't going to waste the opportunity to time-waste with the sub, at a time when play was already halted. Only when the ball went out for a bog standard throw in, I believe, did he then allow Blind to come on. Thereby turning said bog standard throw in into another long stoppage. To be honest, Jose played the entire final 20 minutes or so perfectly. Klopp and Pep would never have seen a game out like that.
Saints have been a bit up and down. They looked better against Palace, so can't blame MP2 for choosing Long again. I think he may stick with him again, so Gabbi may keep losing out until something changes. It may not be Gabbi's fault that the team isn't gelling with him, but can see Mauricio settling for a tried and tested side.
