Just briefly saw a replay of their goal, and it looked like Wesley took a serious shove from Lukaku, that left him on the deck and not in a position to help Fraser out with the rebound.
If it was just acting, he'd have probably stopped acting after the yellow was shown. He was wincing and moving very gingerly for a fair time thereafter. I'm no fan of Fellaini, but that looked like pretty genuine pain to me.
****ing hell. MOTD show a different game again. Last time it was Palace looking unlucky. This time it wasn't exactly a problem for ManU to win.
They spared Romeu's blushes by not showing that shot passed the post, which, from where I was sat, looked like a gimme, in golfing terms. I really wanted to see that as well
MOTD is so odd nowdays. They show highlights that don't represent the game at all and then afterwards the pundits contradict the said highlights with a more accurate analysis (usually anyway). Didn't think the highlights could get much worse after the Palace game last week but they somehow managed it.
What did I learn from MoTD about the Saints performance? They played well. No mention of a single individual, no breakdown of any single persons performance, no discussion of any incidents which affected the game, just a load of wibble of how brilliant Manure were defending. What a waste of air time.
Took me 5 hours to get to the game today. Tried to be clever going down single lane tracks only to be scuppered by many cars going up the very same single lane tracks. Got there in in the end. Had a nice meal with cousins to celebrate my birthday, then watched an entertaining although disappointing result of a game
This was last weeks game except we were Palace. Utd got a lucky break and scored, then managed to hold us out. In truth though I think we never really looked like a serious goal threat. To mix metaphors we huff and puff but have no sting. We have a team who cannot create goal scoring chances so I cannot fathom the decision to start with a striker who needs 8 good goes at goal to score. And we leave Gabbiadini on the bench who can score with one half chance. There is no universe in which Shane Long converts two chances into two goals. Sorry if that sounds harsh but he is not that striker, never has been and its dumb to think he will be under Pellegrino. Gabbiadini is on the bench for a reason but I don't think its a footballing reason. He doesnt look happy which is a worry. Somebody said he's too good for Saints and they might be right, if we can't get him starting and give him scoring chances he will be off to a new club, he's too good to bench warm for us. Once again we were great at the back I'm continually impressed by the back 4 and Lemina and Romeu will turn out to be a partnership worthy of the top 6 by the end of the season.
Oriol was the best player on the pitch according to BBC Sport's review. I dispute that myself, but it certainly made me reflect. When I watch the whole 90+ minutes again, I shall be looking to see.
There's no way he's been better than Lemina. Not the mention three times that he's been caught dwelling on the ball for too long and then lost possession in a dangerous area
Have to agree with Laces and Croatia. Thought Oriol was below par in the the first half. Shows how stats can be misleading imo.
Four and a half hours for us via Hangerford, Andover and Romsey...not fun and just made it for kick off. Thankfully great return journey of only three hours
MOTD with Danny Murphy is never going to be incite full is it? Found it funny how he singled out that world class striker Rashford but for his defensive excellence. Really? Apart from the couple of tackles he made, Cedric and Tadic tour him to bits which is why Mourinio had to take him off and bring on Blind to support Young. Saw Jones was given MotM in several media outlets...really? Was that for him embarrassing diving performance. Some people have no pride
Jones knows how to fling himself onto the floor, sure. However, he was clearly man of the match. He was the main reason that we didn't score.
