Well we don't have a target man but we play that way. Having checked whoscored, Tadic has put in 5 crosses today and Redmond a couple, plus 6 from Davis, 4 from Cedric and 2 from Bertrand. We've crossed the ball 20 times so far today and Man Utd 9 times. It's not just about crosses though, it's also the number of times our lone striker gets the ball from a long pass while totally isolated. Gabbiadini in particular isn't able to do much in that situation.
That's what the great sides do though, scrap out a win when not at their best. Fully expect them to win the league.
Unlucky Saints, played well really and a tad unlucky against a great team, this was always a free hit imo. Onto Stoke next week.
We fail to score again - even acknowledging it was Man Utd and a better display in the second half - we really need to do some business in the January transfer window.
Brilliant half. Shame we lost. Deserved more. However, football is a total joke. Why? Stoppage time is a big club biased lottery. We played about 2 minutes of football in that stoppage. He didn't even add on the Mourinho sending off time. Last week there were no stoppages and 5 minutes of stoppage time for the home team - and they added on an extra one despite nothing happening. This week, we play about 2 minutes football in the four minutes, with 45 seconds extra. Ridiculous. Time keeping needs a total rethink.
What is even the point of stoppage time? Really fails to instill confidence in the way football is refereed that the part which is literally just counting is so, so poorly used and enforced. But that's just my usual and oldest bugbear (besides our attacking players giving away ridiculously soft and obvious free kicks late in games to alleviate pressure... Dusan you're off the hook for once because looking at you this time Charlie). Good performance, ****ty to have to take another moral victory against United.
